Deep Life-Altering Questions?

May 26, 2007 00:09

So its reached summer of 2007, basically, and that makes it almost a year since I moved up to Chicago.  I've learned a lot of 'lifey' things, and a lot of strange things, and a lot of cosplay things, and a lot of art things ( Read more... )

I'll be moving but not in time for you to benefit from it, alas. :( It wouldn't be at least until 2008.

Are you staying in the chicago area?

We're willing to go anywhere. Probably not staying in Chicago, just for the fact that it is expensive to live here...but if we end up staying here it wouldn't be bad.

Where are you headed, BTW?

No idea. Up north somewhere. Maybe the Virginia area? Anywhere but here.

I am not moving, and my parent currently lives with me, so I can't offer much in the way of space, but Ohio has a cheaper cost-of-living than Chicago (generally speaking) and a decent number of cons in a fairly close vicinity of each other.
Just a suggestion! :3

Ohio is really not a bad idea. My dad lived there for a year or so when I was younger, and he seemed to enjoy it. Plus then we're close to Ohiocon, and closer to east-coast cons...
well, there are definitely pluses. Thanks for the idea!

I certainly wouldn't mind having you guys live closer :P I wish I could offer part of our house, but we're renting from my mum's exboss, and the only reason rent is so cheap is because he's nice to us. I don't think he'd appreciate our inviting friends to stay with us. He's so bloody particular. >_<

And we're not moving out right off. I'm not really sure WHEN he wants us to move out D:

The Highland area is ah... it's ok. Nothing to write home about. I am not sure how cheap or expensive it is. And I'm also not sure about the job market. But DAMN! If I had another house to go do work in, that would be awesome XD I'm terrible with costuming, though. fabric and I have.... have.... not a good relationship.... Even though I love it so D: Why, Fabric.. WHYYYY????

Yeah, you're one of the reasons that we're wanting to be maybe back in St. Louis (besides the fact that I know the area and the rent is cheap, those are good reasons too). DJ is planning on moving in December to go to Oregon, so we MIGHT just move temporary somewhere until then. Hard to say. x-x There are an infinite number of choices where to live, so we wanna find the one that is right.

Oo. St. Louis. I've thought about living there. I hear it's a nice place, and it's not TOO far from centrallized locations like Chicago.

Hmmmm.

*nod* Its nice in that its central to pretty much everything, and living costs are cheap. Plus its a big enough city to have all the useful things that cosplayers need (Wig stores, garment stores, leather stores, etc, etc). Unfortunately it, itself, doesn't have a lot of conventions, but one of my personal favorites is there(Archon, the home of the 'dream masquerade experience'). 6 hours from Ohiocon, 4 hours from Acen. Plus my mom is trying like crazy to get me to move back there. x-x She's willing to look for living locations for us(she already found a cheap house for rent). Its looking better and better, but its just our fall-back plan right now. Hey, though, if you're looking to move and considering it, we could make some nice arrangements in the future.

You guys should move to Ohio!! :D In fact, my mom loves taking in people lmao...I dunno how long you guys would want to stay with us if you DID want to stay, but we have a small guest bedroom with a twin bed, and then a large basement with a double bed and pull out queen-sized couch/bed, and lots of room...so yeah, you guys are welcome to stay here for a while, or at least until you find a more permanent place :O

...I'm really serious though, when I say that my mom LOVES taking people in ^^ So yeah...let me know if you're interested at all ^^ You wouldn't have to pay rent or anything, although it'd be good to buy your own groceries and stuff :O

Hope everything end sup well!! x3

Actually, this idea has moved quite high up on our possibilities list. Your mum sounds like a great person. I've heard also that she takes people in quite a lot...does she have a contract draft for boarders? ^.^ If she does, we'd love to take a look...we don't want to impose on you at all, so knowing things like curfew/noise tolerance/internet bandwidth allowance/expected rent(I currently pay 200 dollars for a room here, if you want something to base off of?), etc would be great so we don't upset anyone. ^.^ I'll look into getting some days off of work so we can come visit with you, and I'll let you know in as much advance as possible when those are...

Thanks so much for the offer! Seriously!

Ah, awesome!! I think it'd be really great to have you guys here ^_^ My mom doesn't have anything really set up, since most of the time people just stay here casually for a few days to a week. But we've had tons of exchange students, so I guess there are a few ground rules, but not much lol ( ... )

Edwardsville town houses are very affordable and such. Keep in mind. I'd offer up you guys living in my house, but I'd be moving to UofI next year, so I might be a little awkward to have you guys move in without me being there. But, if you wanted to work at the office and such, my dad said he'd hire you. If you work out rent with my dad you guys actually could live upstairs if you want. Just help out my mom with the house, she's handicap and such. Plus, my dad is always at work. My brother only knows how to take care of the outside of the house and such, but the inside of the house is a lot of work. I actually worry a lot about leaving my parents alone.

Dude, thankyou for the offer. o.o We were really considering moving back to St. Louis, and that would have been awesome. Right now, though, I'm trying to get as far away from my parents as possible. >.> They're being...annoying. But really, really thanks for finding that all out for me.
