sneakin' around

I have been unable to update my "blog" on myspace, but lucky for me the powers that be don't know about livejournal, so it isn't blocked. My grandma and young teenage cousins don't about it either, so I have a little more freedom with what I right. It's not that I'm ashamed of some of the things am done, there are just some things that extended family members shouldn't really hear about.

I'm thinking about reenlisting soon for another four years. There are a few reasons for this -- I still owe money on my student loans, economy is going down the tubes, and I don't think I can go to school fulltime to get my first bachelor's. And, despite the fact that I'll be going to Iraq on a regular basis, I really like my job. I actually like doing it in Iraq as well, but it is all the extra things that come with it that I don't like (away from friends, family, no breaks or vacations.)

I'm about halfway through this deployment, and there have been a few frustrating things going on with it. Right now we don't have any running water, and haven't had any all day. I would like to work out to kill some time, but there is no way I'm going to excercise if I can't take a shower afterwards.

I recently bought a heart rate monitor (no chest-strap, just a wristwatch) to track how effective my cardio workouts are. I've only worked out a handful of times since I've been here, so it'll be easy to see the progress as I actually get in shape. I just checked my resting heart rate, and it is a whopping 52 bpm. I don't think that's normal, but I doubt I'll ever ask about it.
