Updating livejournal to avoid the momentary writer's block on my assignment for Advanced Fiction Writing due tomorrow. It's only a 2-page story, so it's not like it has to be a masterpiece or anything, but I've hit a wall less than 200 words in because I realized I had no idea who the character I was writing was or what the main action was going to be for the next 500 words. So I have to stop until that comes to me.

School's started again, and aside from the head cold that was bothering me all through the beginning of this week and is just going away now, everything is good. I'm taking 2 education courses- Child in America and Language Acquisition- and 2 English courses- Advanced Fiction Writing and Methods of Literary Study. Fiction Writing is, of course, my favorite so far; it's at 8 a.m., which sucks, but it's JCB for crying out loud, and literally 3/4 of the class is my friends. No repeat classmates from Creative Writing either, so no one in this group has read the kind of crappy spur-of-the-moment stories I turned in last semester. I'm hoping to do well in it. Both education classes are good, and I'll be working in the elementary school this semester. :) And Methods? It's okay. It'll be fine, just...boring. But I'll get through it.

I've even been getting out of my room a bit more, mostly to hang out in The Suite. I've been there almost every day this week, playing Clue and/or watching movies. Considering that I can be antisocial by nature, this is a big deal. (Florence, be proud!) Tonight I'm going to a poetry reading that JCB recommended we attend, then a friend's belated holiday party, and then over to LQ to finish watching "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe", which we started yesterday. Should be fun. I only had one class today, so it rocks!

OK, back to focusing. If I don't come up with something in the next half hour, I'm gonna switch gears and do some reading instead. :)
