on Kakashi and Iruka

Sep 29, 2008 15:27

almost forgot disclaimers.  None of them belong to me and this is in the Kari universe.  Kanna is a civilian medic that just happens to fit the rant for the day.  poor girl.

Iruka stormed around his apartment, glaring at everything that dared to be out of place even the slightest imagined inch.  He dusted and mopped until everything was totally spotless.  Kakashi watched him work, knowing better than to get into his boyfriends way even by one slight helpful moment.  Whatever had Iruka in a snit wasn't his fault he was sure, so he figured he was better off waiting until he calmed down before talking.

Iruka finally flung himself on the couch in a huff, clearly still miffed but calmer then he had been.  Kakashi sat down next to him and put his arm around him, fingers idlely stroking the skin of his arm.

"Its not fair.  Why do people have to be so stupid." Iruka snarled before sighing.  "Sasuke comes home a single parent and the girls all fling themselves at him trying to show him they would be the perfect mom."  Iruka slammed his hand down on the table with a growl, "Kanna loses her sister in childbirth and becomes the caretaker of her neice and nephew and all of a sudden its like she is the disgrace of the town."

Kakashi frowned, he rather genuinely liked the little med nin.  "Whose been bothering her?"

Iruka threw up his hands, "who hasn't.  I had to threaten a couple of idiots earlier who were convinced that single female parent meant that she would screw anyone who offered.  They weren't willing to take no for an answer since obviously having kids meant she was easy.  If this is what women go through just taking in family I would hate to see how people react to them being single parents of their own children through divorce or being widowed." He stopped and thought for a moment, "although one would hope they wouldn't be this horrible to widows.  Gods, what are people thinking."

Kakashi thought about it for a moment, realizing that he had heard that particular line about other single female parents before as well.  He hadn't paid that much attention, but the more he thought about it the more he realized just how often it came up when one of them had the misfortune of catching someone in the male group's eye.  And the comment merry widow was often said with a leer toward woman who had lost a husband and hadn't remarried.

"And the women are worse.  Its as if they are convinced that now she is a single parent she is after their men.  Be real, if Kanna had actually been that way don't you think she would have done something like that before now.  Hell the woman barely dates as it is, and now this.  Genma actually had to intercede when a group of chunnin kuonnichis ganged up on her to make sure she understood that she wasn't to touch their men.  One of them was actually the girlfriend of one of the anbu that Kanna nearly killed herself saving and this is how she thanks her.  If it hadn't been for Genma and some of anbu, who knows what would have happened.  Its getting that utterly stupid."   Iruka slammed his hand down again, hopelessness and anger written in his frustrated gesture.

Kakashi sighed, "well at least she has friends to stand beside her."

"Even fewer now.  Some who called themselves her friends have shunned her because they don't want her supposed questionable morals attached to them."  Iruka threw himself back against the couch, snuggling into Kakashi's warm side.  "She laughed at me and said it was alright.  She would survive."  He shook his head, "I'm glad that anbu takes such an interest in her well being or I would be more than a little worried."  He laughed softly, "you should have seen the women's faces when they realized just how many anbu were suddenly between them and her.  And the girlfriend turned really damn pale at the sight of her boyfriend standing there unmasked and more than a little pissed."

"Anbu medics are rare and we tend to be very protective of them," Kakashi nodded.  "Regular medics are one thing, but it's rare to find one with the strength to do what anbu medics do, under fire, and knowing that an anbu hurt is twice as dangerous as an anbu well.  Yeah, medics can take missions and such, but not many have the strength and skill to face hell several times over and still go back."  He thought for a minute, "especially ones with as much chakra as she has.  If she had been a medic nin she would have been right up there with the best of them."

Iruka snickered, "yeah if you could get her over her fear of heights."

"Monkeys are for trees and ninjas, you both share the same mentality, although I think that is insulting the monkey."  Kakashi mimicked the medic's excaberate voice.  Iruka laughed at the dead on impression.

"Come on, big boy, lets go see the woman in question."  Iruka stood up pulling his boyfriend with him, "I got chocolate ice cream on the way home, i figured she could use it."

"Your such a woman, Iruka" Kakashi teased, stepping out of reach of his boyfriend's half hearted swing.

"Just for that, I'm telling her you don't want any of the cake I know she was making.  She always bakes when she's frustrated."  Iruka teased back.

Kakashi's eyes lit up in delight as his hands flew the familiar hand seals.  A poof of smoke later, and a voluptious Kakashi-ette grabbed the ice cream from Iruka with a grin, "come on Iruka-chan, you don't want to keep that poor girl waiting.  I'll just stop and grab some chocolate sauce on the way over, you know how she loves that."  S/he poofed away leaving Iruka laughing so hard he couldn't stand.

"Trust you to think first with your stomache before your pride," he snickered as he locked up and hurried toward Kanna's place.  He knew his jounin's sweet tooth too well, and he hoped that Kanna could save him at least one piece of cake.
