So I know I'm a few days late on this, but I've been on a road trip with Cristóbal all week and just got home yesterday...
I really agree with everyone on the fact that i finally feel proud to be an American again. And that's a really big thing for me, because living in Spain I've gotten so much crap from people and had so many people ask me what the hell my country was thinking when we RE-elected Bush. Yesterday I was in a bar in San Sebastián and a group of Americans came in speaking English and the bartender yelled "YES WE CAN!". I bought a newspaper from November 6th (nothing was in the newspapers on the 5th because results weren't in until 5 in the morning) so that I could keep it as a souvenir. EVERY SINGLE newspaper had a huge picture of Obama on the cover with the whole front page dedicated to our elections. The one I happened to buy had a 12-page extra insert called "De la esclavitud a la casa blanca" (From Slavery to the White House) all about the history of blacks in America. Pretty awesome. The whole day after the election Cristóbal and I were driving and the only thing anyone on the radio was talking about was Obama. And that's in SPAIN. I couldn't even believe it. Everyone here is as stoked as we are.
