KODAK Theatre!

So yea, today comprised of an eye exam, and going to a Chinese New Years celebration thing at the Kodak
The program included:
a first half made up entirely of children (5-10), who did an amazing job of lowering the standard for those who followed (okay, maybe I'm being too harsh here, they are just little kids)
The second half had its bright points (some violin solo that the guy from the philharmonic did in concert orchestra (yes, the one with the left hand pizzicato) and a great job on Ode to Joy, as well as many different dances and songs) and its low points (a Chinese rock band named the Cavesluts, who had possibly the worst lyrics ever, combined with...well..general dislike of their performance, the hip-hip group Far East Movement (what can I say, I dont really like rap at all, though it was rather amusing to see some asians really really act black, and to be labeled an ABC) and a Piano Clarinet duo that had a piece that made no sense at all.
Overall, because it ended with Ode to Joy (and a chinese guy who wants to be pavarroti) and that Violin Solo (Gypsy Air), I rather liked the overall event.
Of amusement to me, almost equal to the "Asian Boys" of Far East Movement, and the Cavesluts:
A set of three tenors which included an 80 year old man (he could actually sing, which was amazing)
Songs done by Larissa Lam, because she can't speak Chinese, but could do "All that Jazz" perfectly
and the weird phrases used by the announcers:
"I just wanted to say this *puts on deep voice* 'And the winner is _______ (insert her name in here)"
"You should all learn Mandarin, because its good to know..." before talking about how her friend's 2 year old child (did I mention that her friend was white?) was learning Chinese
and the complete and total lack of comprehension for those who didnt understand Mandarin Chinese (they would randomly intersperse english words in lengthy sentences). This was used to rather comical effect with the only male announcer, a white male. He would basically just sit there and smile, and try to make some jokes (before being overriden by the two Asian hostesses/announcers

In other news, my sister got back her ISEE test scores, and we ended up having a two hour conversation about study habits...ugh
