A few things about my new job and the neighborhood I now work in. It's called the Tenderloin. Reportedly because after the gold rush (anyone get that Neil Young reference?) this particular part of the city went to shit. The enforcers of order requested more money to work there because of it's tumultuous reputation. They needed more money so they could afford the tenderloin steak. This cut of meat is apparently costly. Just one of the many things I hear about at work that I know nothing about.
Everyone who walks around this neighborhood, unless they work there like me, is crazy. Seriously crazy people. Wandering around talking to themselves, crazy. Also every corner is extremely fragrant....fragrantly like piss. I see many drug deals a day...MANY. I also see many transvestites who may or may not be whoring themselves mid-day. It's interesting for sure. Stay tuned for when I actually start working with clients, meeting with these crazy, wild-pissing types.
I'm also glad the people at work don't know the extent of why I was home in MA recently. It gives me an excuse to hold it all together...to eat lunch on my lunch break, to smile, to get dressed in the morning, to shower, to leave my room and re-enter society...even if it is only for 8.5 hours/day.
