Today I think I finally feel recovered from Saturday, though my bruises might suggest otherwise. Another racing of the Idiotarod down, this year outfitted as the Hair Cult for Men:

I seriously cannot believe how much team effort went into this year's theme. Now you know why I was inquiring about hair cannons in my last post. So I can't really explain how this theme came to pass - I'm pretty it was a strong attempt to bridge the conceptual and the pop cultural, without resorting to the usual food tossing. Instead of sabotaging other teams by greasing their cart's wheels with Crisco, we aimed to sabotage by greasing their cart's handles with human hair and vaseline, a.k.a. "Rogue Gain."

Our team got our notification to meet at noon in Fort Greene Park, and from there we got the notice to proceed to the official starting point at the York St. stop in Dumbo. We then wended our way through Downtown Brooklyn, Boerum Hill, Carroll Gardens, and upper Red Hook.

Here's the route map (the numbered markers don't represent checkpoints):

Five miles in total, and we ran for most of it. Not bad, since I haven't run farther than two miles at any one time since...probably last year's race. The only down side is that our sabotage team got separated from us mushers 'cause they couldn't keep up with us speed demons.
