How did you like Valis? It was the only Philip K. Dick book I ever really got into. Kind of like how Eraserhead is the only David Lynch I ever liked all that much.

"Valis" wasn't my favorite PKD book ever, but it did mesh well with a lot of the Robert Anton Wilson & Timothy Leary stuff that I read many years back, so that was kinda neat. I was also amused to watch "The Man Who Fell to Earth" a few months later, and learn that it was the movie referenced in "Valis." Funny how it's all connected...

Oh man I started Absurdistan and loved it. I wonder why I didn't finish it. I will have to pick that up.

I just got Red Eye/Black Eye for Christmas!

Cathy read "Surely You're Joking..." and loved it. I'll have to pick that one up soon myself.

I've read a couple of Ames' books, and they're both very breezy but fun to read. I have a feeling you might enjoy him quite a bit - I feel like he's often trying to evoke a feel of a certain era or work - reminiscent of lighthearted pokes at formal turn-of-the-century society, but all modern and neurotic-like.
