The Haas-tel (a.k.a. The Minor Rock Star Crash Pad) re-opened for business for one night, and one night only.
Matt Wascovich and his band
Scarcity of Tanks played
Glasslands Gallery, and then rolled the caravan to my place late Saturday night. I'm 100% sure no one reading this is even the slightest bit impressed with the names of the gentlemen whose bodies graced my apartment floor with their presence, but me, personally, I'm slack-jawed with awe. I had:
Scott Pickering, who co-founded
Scat Records (home of "Bee Thousand"-era Guided by Voices) in 1989 with Robert Griffin of Prisonshake, and plays/played in Pufftube, My Dad is Dead, Gem (he's the drummer on the "(I am a) Tree" original version), Spike in Vain, and a million other 80's/90's golden-era Cleveland bansd. This man is a demi-god.
Dave Cintron, who plays in
Terminal Lovers, played took J. Mascis' spot in Cobra Verde during their national tour a few years back, and plays/played with Disengange, the Downside Special, Quazimodo, Dimbulb, and ton more.
Ted Flynn, who I'm sure has more musical accomplishments than I have hairs on my head, but I can't renumerate them because he's too humble and devoted of a listener to interrupt the rest of our yakking and tell his stories. (edit: Theodore Vril, Seers, Numbskull, Flux Up, more.)
So fucking awesome. And the nicest guys in the world, too.
