So now instead of not knowing how to play poker, I know how to play and lose at poker! Woo!

After like a couple years of knowing each other I finally got to hang out with my boy Seth outside of smoke breaks next to the Fox building. It was really fun, got to meet a whole bunch of new cool people, and him and his girl Danielle are so awesome and sooo cuuute! Yay new people to add to my cute couples list!

Last night had meeting sort of new people too! Went to an opening with Geoff for a show that Cornell Rubino was in. He's one of the illustration teachers at MICA, but I never had a class with him. So it was really good to get to know him and his work finally, yesss. Then afterward we hung out with Evan and Evan and Mike Hanes and went to Dougherty's, which was totally packed with some awesome folk.

GODDAMN I GOT NOTHING DONE THIS WEEKEND SO FAR except for some sketching and some reading. I wish I had a dollar for every time I've had to say this, but FOR REAL tomorrow is a work day. Ohhhh man do I want Monsieur Corbell to like me.

Oh and one of the guys I met today got all cold to me when he found out I was an Eagles fan and I was like whaaaat, oh my god I swear I don't really care about football that much. Haha, but I'm pretty sure he was kidding so it's all good. SUPERBOWL

And also I looove William Faulkner now. Almost as much as Ms. Woolf. (Would she want to be a "Ms." in this day and age despite the whole being-married thing? Truly curious.)

1 yellow onion, coarsely chopped
1 cup celery, chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 tins tomatoes
2/3 cup tomato sauce
1 tin red beans
3 cups stock (chicken, fish or vegetable)
1 cup water
3 tbsp parmesan cheese
olive oil
salt, pepper, cayenne pepper, paprika, oregano, tabasco sauce

in large pot, saute onion, celery and garlic in some olive oil until soft (sofrito)
in separate bowl, season to taste the tomatoes, tomato sauce and beans with the spices and tabasco sauce, then stir into sofrito and saute for a couple minutes
bring stock and water to a boil and add to tomato-onion mixture
boil for 20 minutes, then add parmesan cheese
boil an additional 15-20 minutes or until vegetables are soft and full of FLAVA
SERVE AND ENJOY. I had it with some chips on the side, but I think sour cream or some rye bread would go well with it too.
