The Japanese word for 10,000 is 'Man'
So 100,000 is not 'one hundred thousand' ( hyaku sen ) but 'ten , ten thousands' ( ju man ). 10x10,000 ya'see.
This takes a few seconds to mentally process when you;re dealing with big numbers.
You most often hear the word 'Man' when dealing with currency.
For example , "I need to go to the bank to get a man"
or
"These boots cost me a man"
or , somewhat grotesquely , "I have half a man in my wallet"
This amuses me.
