Much more than a whiff, I think. That they are aware of their own elitism frustrates and disgusts me and their complete misunderstanding of, well, everything is both hilarious and infuriating. I will admit that I am not a fan of hipsters and I feel that their entire aesthetic is a mockery of poverty. They wear trucker caps and drink PBR as some kind commentary, not realizing that their irony belittles and degrades people for whom that kind of culture is not, for want of a better word, a choice. There are people who are truckers and drink PBR because that is what they know and not because it's some kind of HA HA HA ISN'T POVERTY FUNNY shtick.

While they instagram around the world in with their iPads and rage against capitalism (I am a staunch, unapologetic capitalist) some people can't make ends meet. Pretending that the ability to go to Burning Man is anything other than a blessing and a privilege is absurd. You can take your artistic necessity and shove it right up your ass. Some creative people, who would say that they would die with out their art, just can't afford it. Only the elite have the luxury of saying, 'if I don't do this I'll just die' when it means something other than working to put food on the table and a roof over their head.

Vast generalization, I know, but UGH!!! I am an elitist, I know, but I also know that I have to check that behavior to avoid being (more of) an asshole. The hipsters, they are unaware of this need.
