I think the casting of most of the characters, even if they look somewhat different, doesn't bother me. Lysa's actress nailed the part last week, I thought. And I have hopes for Jon.

I agree with you, some of the scenes did really work better in the show, like the culminating fight with Ned and Jaime. Another scene that missed the mark for me, though, was Bran being thrown off the tower. It just didn't have the emotional oomph. I think it's easier to get inside the characters' heads in the books, so we knew a lot more about Bran when the same moment happened on the page, so perhaps that's why.

In general, I do think they are doing quite a good job translating all the tensions. I have peeps watching with me who didn't read the books and they seem quite into it. I just wonder how much of the backstory they're picking up.

I did know about Jason Mamoa being the next Conan, but I just can't seem to care. :D

I haven't watched the series because I knew I'd hate it when they changed it.

I'm also kind of pissed that GRRM has been working on the stupid series when there are still three effing books to finish!!!!!!!

No, because I was shaking my fist at GRRM and at my friend, Dan, who told me about these books in the first place. After Harry Potter I swore I wouldn't get into any series that wasn't finished.

I figured it would be fine with this series, though, because I don't like fantasy books so I'd just read one and it would be fine. Little did I know that the books are excellent! Argh.

I'm in the middle of A Feast for Crows and I find Cersei Lannister so dull as a POV character. Yes, she's a drunk. And so what?
