I think that because Christian Bale has signed off of the Batman franchise (and is most likely going to be replaced by Patrick Dempsey) that this had to be an ambitious project. Personally, I enjoyed it way more than the first film and the action scenes were utterly amazing and actually largely relevant to the main plot. For me, it didn't feel like a two and a half hour film and I thought it was surprisingly well-written for an action film, but I could just have ludicrously low expectations lol. I did want to see more Playboy!Wayne, but I understood why Nolan & Co. didn't overindulge with those scenes.
Yeah, I think I read that somewhere, but I could be mistaken, I'm not always 100 percent right lol. And yeah, totally, I can't imagine this franchise continuing with anyone else in the batsuit. I saw the trailer for the new Terminator movie, I'm not a fan of that series either, but if Bale's in it, it's a given I'll be seeing it. Also, his voice in the trailer sounds freakishly like a more mature version of Eddie Furlong's...it's a bit eerie.
I'm not sure he can pull off any aspect of the role...but I guess Bale wanted to move onto the Terminator franchise and didn't want to deal with the batsuit for another film lol.
Did he? I thought I read somewhere that TDK was his last Batman film and that he was going to focus on reviving the Terminator franchise, but I could be mistaken. If this was his last film, I probably won't waste a cent on the next film.
I know he's doing terminator (great preview before batman, btw), but you got me curious... a little google searching found some interview where he said he wanted to do a third, but only with Chris Nolan, and my EW issue says the same thing. I also wouldn't want him to do a third without Nolan! They are a great team.
