Marilyn Buck, R.I.P.
When I heard that Marilyn Buck had gotten out of prison a bit early, I was so happy. I started thinking about how great it would be to sit and have tea and healthy snacks with her, chatting about politics in a setting that WE chose. Our visits at Dublin were always a bit rough, what with the shit food options and, you know, the fact that it was in prison. She always encouraged me to bring my kid with em, but Jeff was never into it and it wasn't worth it to me to fight about it, but I really was looking forward to introducing Natasha to Marilyn. Natasha once sent her a picture, which showed an open prison door with little air motion symbols...it was a picture of Marilyn leaving prison.
But it appears that the early release was so she wouldn't die on THEIR watch. I found out on facebook today that she has passed on. And I am holding back my tears, because I am at work.
May she rest in peace and power. May we always remember her and be inspired by ehr life and her commitment, courage, and solidarity.
