Well that was a bit much...

Yikes, life went a little crazy on me last week. I kept meaning to post but I didn't even know what to say.

Basically this is what happened:

1) My boss, who has been with the company for 13 years and is totally an expert in our department (and the company, really) and on whom I rely a great deal was laid off on Monday morning. It was an utter shock for everyone. I don't even have the words (or the energy) to go into it but it created a LOT of chaos (emotional as well as work-wise) that will go on for a very long time. My own responsibilities are pretty drastically affected by it, in addition to having lost the person that I bounced all my ideas off of, to whom I could complain/rant, with whom I worked extremely closely. (PS tovegirl it was Helen, not Tony)

2) Neal decided to move back to Australia. At first I was really disapointed and was worried that he hadn't given Vancouver/his life here a chance, but once we talked about it it turns out he did get a lot out of his time here (what he was looking for in his life, really) and is going back for the right reasons, not because he is running away from anything. Still, sad. I will miss him.

3) Due to some stupid misunderstandings and mis-communications I ended up leaving Mike out of something he wanted to be involved in. He was really hurt, and I can see why he would be but can also see how the misunderstandings weren't entirely one sided. It definitely made for a crappy (and pretty silent) evening around my house and I felt really awful even though the stupidity was on both our parts.

I am also late with my Weekly Check In
- write for 2 hours
- knit for 2 hours
- spend one evening at the studio
- start reading Emma
- put 10 items on my collage wall
- organize the shelves in my writing office

That's a bit better than last week (and frankly with everything else going on I'm kind of amazed) Not only did I start reading Emma but I also read Rebecca from start to finish! I'm mostly happy about having spent 2 hours writing yesterday. Since my writing office is a disaster (and Jake isn't allowed in there) I plunked down on the couch with Jake napping beside me and got some good solid work done. I feel a lot better. Now just to keep it up!

Next week's goals:
- knit for 2 hours
- write for 3 hours
- work on my Andes agent proposal and send it in if I deem it ready (eek!)
- put 10 items on my collage wall
- make pendants for Aunt Marg
- experiment with memory glass, paper beads and polymer clay (not combined...)

goals, crafty, check in
