Allergies = Weird

I woke up this morning and noticed that there was a small ring of itchy bumps on one of my legs. Being me, I totally started thinking up all the weird medical issues this would probably be. Of course when I actually have something wrong with me, like say, a badly broken toe or a brutal sinus infection, I do nothing about it. Regardless, I finally remembered that yesterday morning I had woken up and found a dime in the bed. Mike had been having a nap and some change had clearly fallen out of his pockets. Sure enough, the bumps are exactly dime shaped and being that I am allergic to metal I must have slept right on the dime. Weird.

I don't know why I felt the need to post this, but I guess I am constantly amazed by the odd things our bodies do or do not tolerate.

I for one, am allergic to metal: the back of buttons on my jeans, certain necklaces, almost all earrings (I can only wear them for a few hours at a time) and belt buckles. Watches are particularly bad and I still have dark spots on the inside of one wrist from when I insisted on wearing them in high school and was constantly scratching.

I am also allergic to artichokes, hilariously enough. Sadly I am addicted to spinach and artichoke dip, which I can only eat at certain places that are heavy on cheese and spinach but light on the artichokes. This is a really stupid trial by error thing to figure out and yet I still insist on trying it. Earl's is the only chain so far that I can eat and only feel slightly sick, Milestones is one I have to avoid at all costs. I once ate a whole artichoke and thought I was going to die. This, clearly is when I discovered that I am allergic to them and my stomach still churns at the sight of artichokes in the grocery store.

Thankfully that appears to be about it for me on the allergy front, but it totally interests me that some people have allergies to certain things while others are not bothered by them at all. Bizarre...
