Je suis tellement desolé mais il semble que la traduction automatique ne marche pas.
[ ...or maybe not.
At least he very clearly apologised for the mansion's automatic translation which doesn't seem to be working. ]

Désolé, mais je ne comprends rien.
[ Still very sorry, still not understanding anything at all.
...But maybe people speak French if you just ask them? He totally has an optimistic feeling about this. /snerk ]
Est-ce que tu parles français?

Oui! Oui! Je vous comprends! Par ici!
[And oh gosh, I hear you. I haven't taken French in years, orz.]

Oh thank god, I thought I was going to be stuck like this forever, you have no idea how glad I am that I can finally talk to somebody, I mean I never even think about the automatic translation anymore and now it's suddenly gone, but-- That's not even the worst part! I'm actually trying to speak English, but it's not working! I don't even speak French and I-- no, well, I mean, I do speak it, but I didn't grow up with it and-- And this is my mother's tongue and I couldn't read it earlier, it's just gone!
...
He takes a deep breath and calms down. ]
...ahh, je-- [ He clears his throat, then looks into the camera sheepishly. ]
...Désolé, mais je suis tellement soulagé.
[ Apologies for the outburst, but he's really very, very relieved. ]

[It's okay, really, because he's about to do some babbling himself that comes out something like this:
I know exactly what you mean. I couldn't even talk to my own father earlier because he was still speaking English. This is ridiculous! How do you just forget fluency in an entire language overnight? I keep trying to speak it, and it's not coming to me at all! And of course no one else speaks French. It feels like Lost In Translation. ...I refuse to be Bill Murray though. I'll take the Scarlett Johansson part.
...Well. He digressed quite a bit there. Maybe he should introduce himself instead of talking this poor man's ear off.]
Je m'appelle Kurt Hummel. Et vous?

At least the Murray & Johansson reference is semi-understood. He smiles. ]
Philip. Je suis Philip-- LaFresque. [ He had to pause for a moment there. With everything but French so cleanly wiped off his mind saying his surname suddenly sounds a little odd. ]
...Ah, mais, euh... on peut se tutoyer, non?
[ Regrettably his books never covered that particular scenario, but offering the informal as opposed to the formal 'you' only seems sensible in a 'everyone is trapped in a terrible alternative dimension' setting. ]

Daniel, c'est- c'est latin?
[ And also, why is he still surprised at this point?
Never mind, IF HIS MUNDANE CAN SLIP THROUGH THREE YEARS OF LATIN WITH HER FRENCH VOCAB, THEN SO CAN PHILIP! he might be able to work with that.
He... is... not... conducting... voluntas. ]
Oui, je... je sais. Je pense que-- [ Actually, never mind what he thinks. ]
...Tu parles toujours l'anglais?
[ He asks if Daniel still speaks English. At least his mun hopes so. ]

Daniel thinks he catches "Latin", but isn't sure enough to reply to it. Although once again, it's sort of a relief to know that he's not the only one affected by something. It's just an event. He's not suddenly forgotten English due to some dire side-effect of the rose potion.
He should have French as well BUT APPARENTLY NOT. ]
Ego operor non agnosco vos!
[ He doesn't understaaaaaand, Philiiiiiiiiip 8( ]
Per nonnullus chance, operor vos narro ullus Latin?
[ No, Daniel. If he spoke any Latin he probably would have done so just now. ]

He shakes his head, not in the decisive way one might be inclined to do if one wanted to answer a yes or no question with no, but more in the nonchalant manner of somebody who has no idea what the fuck is going on with anything ever. ]
Je ne comprends rien. Mais peut-être nous--
{ "But maybe if you let me help out a little I could play substitute for your mansion magic. See, he says he doesn't understand you and wonders if you speak Latin by any chance.
I'd think your general vibe of what the hell is going on would've tipped him off that you don't, but hey, that's what he's sayin'. So anytime you want me to feed a line back to him, just ask your friend Clarence. That's what I'm here for, after all." }
[ Oh great. Guess who's capable of switching to French entirely after all despite mun being way too lazy to translate half of that nowPhilip ignores the voice in his head and continues to propose to Daniel that maybe they could go ( ... )

[I do. Not sure how, though.]

[Clarence whistles. Philip has no idea why, since the alien neglected to switch to the only language he currently understands.

"...I hope this doesn't last for long. It's nice speaking French again for a change, but..." [ He smiles, trailes off.
Oh well, might as well use the opportunity to get to know more people. ]
"I'm Philip, by the way."
