And next week, there's no new ep? :(
Well, the break's not probably a bad idea, considering how much the Show's given us to chew on this season... and who knows? Maybe I'll be able to spin out something other than half-assed random bits of fics. There's a desire to make a "Road So Far" picspam with screencaps from the Show and quotes from
Legacy of Kain-series. Because, really, there are numerous lines eerily befitting the Show in those games... and the whole Free Will vs. Fate? *hee*
But now onwards to the ep!
ETA: I've been having trouble concentrating lately. Partially, I believe, it's because this ep's the way it is. Sleeping didn't help, I'm afraid, so... random.
I'm in the mood to skip-skip-skip Then, but... Nah. The Show's been good this season; the baby eating my brain cells probably helps, too.
Save that there is no Then. Huh?
There is, however, a man who's dreaming about the boys and \o/ the box o' IDs! and...comics? Including a Superman with a cover painted by Alex Ross (ETA:
Issue #681). \o/ And a guy wearing a Star Wars-shirt. 'Course. *hee*
Detail: The shop is called "Golden Comics".
*gets worried* I always do when a show on TV features an ep with nerds and geeks. The one in Bones I liked, though.
*hee* And boys in suits. Wearing ties that I think I recognize. \o/
Agents DeYoung and Shaw. Are the boys re-using IDs? That'd be a first. ETA: 'Young' fooled me. :p But I do believe that it'd be likely for the boys to reuse IDs then and again... Especially since they've been impersonating feds rather a lot, imo.
Boys. Subtlety, thy name is not Winchester. (
thehighwaywoman is the mother of that phrase, if memory serves right.)
Larping! \o/ Oh, boys!
Okay, wtf? The Show's breaking the fourth wall with a bulldozer? Whatever, I'm still willing to see this ride to the end...
*heeeeeee*
The book! The book! By
Carver Edlund! And the font! And the car! The shotgun! The "straight from the cover of a bodice ripper" guys!
And Sam utterly failing at taking it in a stride... unlike his brother. You'd think the youngest Winchester would've learned something by now... other than Further Lies I Told My Brother. *broods*
NO FUNNY WINGY TITLE CARD?! :(
But I'm guessing that the guy with the beard and the dreams is this 'Carver Edlund', and that he's a psychic. Of a kind. Dreaming of Sam'n'Dean, using the books to 'exorcise' them... A cool concept, but far from unique, imo. As it is, here it merely serves to remind me of a 13-ep TV show from early 90s,
Dead at 21. And for a
good reason.
"The Monster At The End of This Book"
Doesn't ring any sorts of bells. But I see the boys have been busy reading. Or at least Dean.
ETA: From metaphysical to
muppets? Only our Show. :p
"From racist trucks to, to me having sex. I'm full frontal in here, dude!"
And Sam looks up. Just saying. :p
Detail: There's 24 published books of Supernatural. They weren't succesful.
1. Supernatural
2. Wendigo (1x02)
3. Phantom Traveler (1x04)
4. Bloody Mary (1x05)
5. Skin (1x06)
6. Hookman (1x07)
7. Bugs (1x08)
8. Home (1x09)
9. Asylum (1x10)
10. Scarecrow (1x11)
11. Faith (1x12)
12. Route 666 (1x13)
13. Nightmare (1x14)
14. The Benders (1x15)
15. Shadow (1x16)
16. Salvation (1x21)
17. Bloodlust (2x03)
18. Croatoan (2x09)
19. Heart (2x17)
20. Sin City (3x04)
21. Fresh Blood (3x07)
22. Mystery Spot (3x11)
23. Jus In Bello (3x12)
24. No Rest For The Wicked (3x16)
Question: What's the most common shared feature with the episodes of those titles?
Answer: Demons. Family. Blood.
Has someone written a meta on blood and its pronounced presence in Season Four already? Or do I have to? Because it's crying out to me so very, very strongly...
Detail: The laptop's wallpaper is still something in shades of red, as has been seen before.
"What's a 'slash fan'?"
Um. O.O
*gigglefit*
Oh, notice the colours ruling the titles of the Supernatural-books? Red, yellow, red, red...blue, green...and orange?
Oh, I love this girl! I don't have a clue who she is, but she looks lovely. And she's a fan.
Detail: There is no single favourite song for Dean, but two. Led Zeppelin's "Ramblin' On" and "Travelling Riverside Blues".
The tattoos! \o/
And she's got her own, too! \o/
Detail: Carver Edlund = Chuck Shirley.
"Sam and Dean traded soulful looks."
Oh, good graces... I know the Show seems like a fanfic sometimes, but gods... This ep's making me self-conscious, though. And firmly of the opinion that (other than gen) fanfic should not be brought to the attention of The Powers That Be.
The Impala's trunk! \o/ And there's the evil eye bead-thingy! And the Box o' IDs! (Though it's not the cigar box
seen in the Pilot...because that one was an old Jamaica Tobacco Co LTD. Coronas' box, and this one's
Montecristo...)
And, um, now I'm really thinking that yes, fans are probably rather scary...
ETA: Practically missed it the first time around, but Chuck's clothes? Blue, blue, white... grey. :P
Detail: Chuck never gave the boys' last name, Winchester, in the books.
I wonder how folks referred to the boys and John in those books, then...
But I can't help but feel sympathetic towards Chuck. There's so much to recognize, if one's ever known a writer, or written... *wantses to wrap him in cuddly blankets and give him cookies*
Detail: Dean knows Kurt Vonnegut's work. At least
Slaughterhouse- Five and
Cat's Cradle.
Boys in a laundromat!
Detail: First time in the history of the Show that this has been shown. \o/
And this ep's awfully heavy with the white and shades leaning towards greys/blues...
"-I can't see your face, but those are definitely your...brooding and pensive shoulders."
*heeeheeehee*
I'm constantly drifting between laughing, giggling and fannishly headdesking. And taking notes. Good graces, this Show! \o/
Okay, so... Chuck's having a dream (daymare?) in which Sam's alone with an adult female blonde with white eyes?
It's the cover of the Supernatural comic! With John! At Harvelle's!
"It's...Lilith."
If it's really Lilith, then she's changed her M.O. Granted, it would've been way off-limits to have that very same scene with a little girl in it...
And if it's really Lilith... *prepares to kiss a very sad goodbye to a bunny*
I think I really do love that slightly-hysterical laughter of Sam's.
Detail: Lilith's wearing a "comely dental hygienist from Bloomington, Indiana".
Another chick from/in Indiana making eyes at Sam?
Oh, and it's a good thing that headache + precognitive dreams = familiar...
Well, this is something we don't get to see that often: The Impala (CNK 80Q3) speeding down the road in broad daylight.
"We are a long way from ready for a face-to-face deathmatch with Lilith."
So no one did tell Dean about what happened to Alistair, huh? And Sam? You know what we've been screaming at you about The Lies I Told My Brother? *sighs*
Of course the bridge's out. Dean, did you really think you could avoid what the narrativium demands? Though I'm not liking the smell of Fate trying to beat Free Will... and succeeding.
And that diner's looking delightful in all its red, red, red... with a dash of yellow. But at least there's all that white, too...
Detail: And that Diner? Kripke's Hollow. *heeheehee*
Oh, boys, boys, boys... Though I have to admit that I like the idea of Opposite Day. :)
But not this, the boys way too bloody wounded to have words. They should try exchanging emails, or something.
It hurts to see the boys like this, because I recognize that state. Feelings too raw, too close to the surface to be able to keep calm, state your case and listen to the other face to face... On the other hand, that's one way to tell that the relationship's not over: you feel too much for the other to get anything but scared senseless by the concept of losing them...
Oh, Dean... that face when the waitress takes away his burger... *wantses to wrap the boy up in blankets and feed him cookies bacon and cheese burgers*
Detail: The boys Sam's staying at the Toreador Motel. Which charges by the hour. ETA: The room he's staying in is 6.
Detail: The hexbags were given to the boys by Ruby at the end of Jus In Bello (3x12).
Detail: The swirly wall design was last seen in The Usual Suspects (2x07).
Detail: Dean made Sam stay in a motel, alone, forbidding activity, in Bad Day At Black Rock (3x03), too.
Detail: Dean loves Magic Fingers (Houses of the Holy, 2x13 and Sin City, 3x04).
Detail: Dean caught Sam watching Casa Erotica (four) in Children Shouldn't Play With Dead Things (2x04).
"-so I'm gonna go park her."
And the Impala's rolling on her wheels now? *is puzzled by Dean's logic*
Heh. Thought I caught a glimpse of that 'RED' sign earlier.
Incidentally, notice how the colours in that sign are red, blue, yellow? ;)
Oh, Dean... you really don't wanna leave your girl...
Especially if carjackers are that fast.
Detail: The minivan that hits Dean has license plates with UV493E.
I think I like Chuck. That most likely means that he's going to get shredded six ways to Sunday before this ep's finished. ETA: \o/
And Sam''s not saying anything we didn't know. Save that he can feel the demon blood inside himself, like it's a separate thing.
Or then it's giving him gas. I wonder if you can be allergic to demon blood...
Lady, those earrings of yours? Now those are showy. In a good way, imo. And distracting as heck.
But oh, Dean! The Impala, wrecked, and you with the flowery band-aids...and the quick-fix... Poor, poor Impala.
Now this is scary!Dean. Again, my sympathies lie with Chuck. Poor guy.
CASTIEL! \o/
I hid from the list of stars, so... :D
"He's a Prophet of the Lord."
Show, you better explain, one of these days, how psychics A (like Missouri, Pamela) are different from psychics B (YED!kids) and how psychics C (Chuck) all fit together/are different from each other. And then we're going to have a field day with the likes of Gordon and Kubrick.
"One day, these books will be known as the Winchester Gospel."
This ep's so taking the cake. And they say Castiel doesn't joke... *hee*
But I'm not sure how much I'm liking the close relationship the interior of Chuck's house seems to be having with red/yellow.
"What the Prophet has written can't be unwritten-"
But it can be rewritten... Or haven't you heard of revisions?
Inside, I'm freaking out. I so have to do that Road So Far-thing with quotes from Legacy of Kain...
"Lilith is gonna slaughter you."
Um. Dean? Remember when Sam told you that the Lilith Lightshow™ doesn't work on him? Or do you honestly think a demonic dental hygienist could kick your brother's ass?
Ah, good. Someone Castiel filled Dean in on Alistair's current status.
Detail: The angels know that Sam's been using his mojo, and that he's been getting stronger, but not the why or how of it.
Oh, Dean... *pets the poor, poor boy*
Random: Funny how he's doing his praying-thing in front of white and blue light... ;)
CASTIEL! \o/
Last ep, I paid attention to the funny blots of light behind people. So what does it say that behind Castiel, in this ep, when he's telling Dean he's not sure what he can do to help, there's yellow, red, white?
*heeheehee*
I think I like Castiel exercising his free will to let Dean know about the whole Prophets/Archangels-thing.
I also think I like Dean with Chuck. And Chuck all by himself. *hugses the two*
And Lilith?
Is a tad higher up on the ladder than poor old Alistair, apparently... On the other hand, Sam didn't even get all headachey and nosebleedy...
"Turns out I don't survive this war. Killed off. Right before the good part starts."
I wonder who's Lilith's source. Or are there two kinds of 'Prophets of the Lord': one for the Divine, one for the Demonic?
A deal with a RED is sealed with a kiss. A deal with (a WED) Lilith is sealed with sex? I wonder what a deal with a YED is sealed with...
But again with the consent issues...
"I am the Prophet Chuck!"
*hee*
"You didn't think once about taking it?"
Funny how this echoes the end of Crossroad Blues (2x08)...
"She's not gonna to survive the Apocalypse. I'll make sure of that."
*thinky*
"Did you see it?"
Zachariah! \o/
This also calls to mind Castiel and Dean in In the Beginning (4x03), at least with me...
"Don't be melodramatic, Chuck! We'd only bring you back to life."
I think I like Supernatural's angels: issues of consent, Hobbesian choices... and apparently dissent in Heaven.
Funny how, no matter whether it's demons or angels, there's always a question of consent.
Cannot do thinky. I think I need more brains for that. The break's not probably going to help, and now I'm worried about the rest of the season, all what? Four episodes of it? Sweet shades.
I'll read (assuming the net works), but I cannot brain.
