A mix of cold/flu/stomach bug has kept our family rather subdued this week. The rest of the time I've been busy figuring out the baby stuff. Yes, it's still two months or so, but... *sigh* This madness didn't strike at midnight, but at least I've learned that fabrics and yarns are a very dangerous thing indeed. Hopefully it'll lead me to learning knitting one of these days, at least. But that has nothing whatsoever to do with Supernatural.
Spoilerfree, and wishing to remain so. Thank you.
The song that's gotten stuck in my head this week, including today, has is Guns'n'Roses' "Dust'N'Bones". I keep thinking of John, and have no clue why. Though the last stanza, now, brings his sons to mind.
ETA: in light of teen!Dean... heh.
*spoilerphobia on the rise, so skippety-skipping Then*
Another "Winchesters' Life Sucked When Sammy Was A Kid" flashback-ep?
*la-la-laa*
ETA: Holy hell. Good thing I skipped. My poor widdle heart would've broken prematurely.
Now
Cheerleaders: do not want. But then, they'll go away in a wee bit, since they're in the Now...
I'm guessing that either Taylor's going to turn suicidal, or go Carrie... or just turn out to be taking lessons from Ruby, and becoming a witch.
Okay, a girl alone in a bathroom. Nothing good can come out of this. Who knows, she might even strip and take nude photos of herself and thus become a producer of child pornography...
My condolences to everyone who can guess what news I've been reading... *sigh*
DO NOT want Sharp Glass near eyes! *hides*
Someone seems to like shooting girls under water in the crew, I guess. Or then it's just me, thinking that's becoming a thing.
Oh, lookie. It's the mystical black goop from X-files.
Now, that was one of the stranger 'Nows' the Show's given us. Colour me clueless.
"After School Special"
Oh, bugger it. We'll be having more of those cheerleaders? *headdesk*
However, I'm admiring the architecture. And this shot in general. :)
Sammy in the scrubs! \o/
High time they dug up those duds, because we've (probably) last seen them in Houses of the Holy (2x13)... when he was talking to another institutionalized female, Gloria Sitnick. Come to think of it, even the lighting here seems to be similar. And something extramundane getting people to do stuff? Hmm... how's your faith these days, Father Sam?
Oh, Show.... So, so good to see the car given such a loving sweep... And Sam walking up to it in his scrubs isn't exactly hurting, either. \o/
Damn, but Padalecki's eyes look green tonight.
Detail: The boys were students at the Truman High School (Fairfax, Indiana) for about a month, once upon a time in 1997. November.
This is a How The Grinch John Winchester Stole Ruined Christmas Another Holiday-ep, eh? Or something. Does this mean we'll get to see wee!chesters? \o/
"Don't worry. I got an idea."
That's never going to sound good! Especially with that smirk! :D
*is secretly hoping the boys will go undercover as teachers*
The Impala's new plates (boy, she's never going to recover from this identity crisis): Kansas, BQN 9R3.
O.O
Holy Hell.
*flails* That's- *EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE*
Dean! *flail* Teen!Dean! With the jacket! And the collar flipped up and-! *high-pitched dolphin noises* And SAM!
1997: two years after Sam's Soccer Trophy in 1995 (Bad Day At Black Rock, 3x03) and about a year after Sam's 'magician phase' in 1996 (Criss Angel Is A Douchebag, 4x12).
And holy hell. Seriously, teen!Dean? He's Dean. Good gods, but TPTB have truly known how to pick 'em.
Wee!Sam's being played by the same boy as in A Very Supernatural Christmas (3x08). But between the Christmas-flashback in that ep and this... there's six years. Sam's supposed to be about 14-ish. And this boy? Does not look 14-ish to me. Sorry. But he's Sam, so...*squirms*
However... Teen!Dean! *ADORES MADLY*
He's supposed to be about 18-ish 17 pushing 18 here, btw. Holy hell. *grabby hands*
Also loving the music. Can't recognize the song, but it sounds familiar.
"Got your lunch? Books? Butterfly knife?"
Reminds me so much of this icon I've seen floating around... *Glee*
"Look, this is the third school we've been to this year and it's only November."
"-Dad said this hunt'll take him two weeks, tops. Soon as he gets back, we're out of here."
*dancing around in circles with all the tasty morsels of canon*
But just the fact that they verified Dean's The Awesomest Big Brother Ever makes my heart filled with glee. Not to mention how bloody damn gorgeous teen!Dean is. Good gods. Seriously, you could see this young man growing into Dean. *draws sparkly, sparkly hearts around him*
Oh, and since this is happening in November... I guess John on a hunt is better than John in a bar, drinking his demons out.
Despite the fact that the Impala was wearing non-familiar plates, the boys were in the school under their real names. I'm, however, beginning to mourn the fact that we didn't get to see JDM.
ETA: 1997... and a couple of years later, Dean spent a while with Lisa Braeden while Sam was "wrapping up that banshee thing in Orlando with John" (paraphrased from The Kids Are Alright, 3x02). Heh.
*DRAWS EXTRA SPARKLY HEARTS AROUND THE WEE!BOYS*
I'm crushing on these two so hard right about the bloody now. Seriously, just... just... *flails*
I wanna start listing all the ways this, the boys in school, is making me happy, but... You saw the Show, too, right? "Not really, sweetheart." Sam and the switchblade. "Not gonna be here long enough, anyway."
Does Jensen Ackles have a younger brother/cousin/whatever-the-heck or where did they pull such a perfect young!Dean? Good gods. Every time he opens his mouth, or y'know, does anything... I thought Padalecki did an awesome job of mimicking Meg's mannerisms in Born Under A Bad Sign (2x14). This, here? That's Dean.
Detail: Sam's bookclub was working on
"The Outsiders". How very, very fitting. And Dean's 12th grade History Class was dealing with American democracy. "To be free, one must be cha(ined)." Which is just funny, considering the last visual of Dean we got during S3... ;)
"Now, I want (three) pages on your most memorable family experience."
They've been reading fanfics again, haven't they?
"Yeah, sure."
*SMISHES WEE!SAMMY* Why do they have such an effect on me? Why are they so bloody damn smishable?
*HEE*
Not as teachers, then. If Sam won't end up scaring at least someone as a janitor/cleaner...
Holy fudge. Holy fudge. Dean! Knees! \o/
Does this count as a reference to Smallville? Season 4 with Jason Teague, the assistant football coach?
That's it. The Show's made me lose words. I'll be just over here, flailing and squeeing and giggling, 'kay?
At least for a little while. Just... *hee*
"The whistle makes me their god."
Oh, Dean... why do you have such an effect on me?
Detail: Indiana High School Football League Bombers, State Champions (1979, 1987, 1996, 2005).
The funny thing? 1987 is the only year I cannot recall ever before having been mentioned in canon. All the rest? 1979: Dean's birth. 1996: Sam's magician phase. 2005: Sam's 22nd birthday, John's disappearance, death of Jessica Lee Moore.
DO NOT WANT!
Good feeling's gone. *whimpers*
Ghost possession? Did I hear that right? Is one of my wet dreams coming true? \O/
Detail: Suicide on campus back in 1998, Barry Cook.
He was going to become a vet, planning to go to Michigan State University.
ETA: Parents divorced, "was on every anti-anxiety drug and antidepressant known to man."
I'm sort of really loving the scene with teen!Dean and the girl Amanda in the closet... if only because of her reaction to his admission of living in a motel for two weeks.
"What? I do whatever I want, whenever I want... it's perfect."
Let's not mention having a kid brother in the same room while trying to woo a girl, eh? I think, by association, this has just verified/strenghtened the fanon that Sam was privy to Dean's dalliances with the flesh when they were teens...
And this is... the lesson of this ep? "Dean Can't Always Save Sam(my)"? That's how it's starting to smell like...
Salt'n'burn! \o/
Definitely the first for the fourth season, and the first since... Um. This needs some thinking. Can't be the corpses of the Sins all the way back in The Magnificent Seven (3x01), can it? They've used fire after that (The Kids Are Alright, 3x02; Metamorphosis, 4x04), but... salt'n'burn? Can it be? Whoa.
With the Show's track record, though... I'd be willing to guess that there's more to this case than meets the eyes. That it's not Barry Cook, but Dirk...
"How can you say that after what happened to you?"
I'm really liking this ep.
Detail: Sam could kick people's asses when he was 14. Ish. And he'd been taught to believe that. But he made a point of not turning to violence, which is a whole lot more than a good number of adults can manage.
Around the end of that 'two weeks, tops', John told Dean that the hunt would take him longer than anticipated; Dean was not happy.
"So... you and your family killed a werewolf last summer, huh?"
Compare: "- I mean werewolves are badass, we haven't seen one since we were kids." (Dean, Heart, 2x17).
*SMISHES the SHOW* The Continuity! Continuity! \o/
"My dad's a mechanic."
Remember Gunter with whom John shared the ownership of a garage?
"The point is: there may be three or four big choices that shape someone's whole life. And you need to be the one who makes them."
Alas, it doesn't seem to be that easy... and one can rarely foresee the consequences of their choices...
:(
Impala's (present) plates: CNK 80Q3.
The girl's looking for room 305. For the heck of it, 305 in HTTP status codes indicates that a proxy must be used.
ETA: Yep, she was carrying Red and Yellow stationary. Oh, Show.
And poor, poor Sam.
But YAY! for competent!Sam! \o/
Sam in a single (or so) layer! And Dean echoing his younger self! \o/
ETA: Not just echoing. That was a bloody anvil right there, guys. :)
That bridge-thingie behind the boys when they're wondering what the hell's going on? I think it's the same that was seen in Hookman (1x07) and Fresh Blood (3x07), at least. Possibly at the end of last ep, too.
I think I'm in love with pissed-off!Dean. :)
"Here, ghostie, ghostie, ghostie. Come out wherever you are."
Detail: The 'Commercial Operator Permit' was issued two weeks ago, a week before the first attack, to Dirk McGregor, Senior.
Detail: Dirk Junior died when he was 18. According to his father, "first drinking. Then drugs. Then too many drugs..."
Detail: Dirk's mother, Jane, died of cancer when the boy was 13.
I'm happy the boys are still able to draw up new toys. Rope soaked in salt water? \o/
Not to even mention the thing they used to tear the bus' tires.
This ep? This ep's even better than last week's. Hurt!Sam has that effect, I guess.
Especially since Dean gets to make his remarks. :D
Do wonder about the writers' delight with the cowgirl, though.
But the real winner's still teen!Dean. How could anyone not love him? I mean, after the fact, knowing how he'll turn out and all. ;)
Can't help but feel sorry for Sam, though. For all of them, really.
"I save lives, I'm a hero. A hero!"
"-Why do I have to be some kind of hero?" (Dean, What Is And What Should Never Be, 2x20)
This exchange between Amanda and Dean, though... it doesn't seem real. If only because I'm having a hard time believing that Dean would (have) let anyone not-family get close enough to see the truth like Amanda here. What she says is true: Dean is/was lonely and lost. But for a random chick he knows he's going to be leaving behind within a couple of weeks to learn that? Maybe I can justify it as Dean not having yet learned to build his walls. Deal with people.
That's... not exactly a happy making thought in any way.
"You happy, Sam?"
And to end it there... Oh, Show...
In conclusion: Thank You. This was one awesome ride. Made my day so, so much better. *smishes the show*
