Those Tiny Trifles: 2x07, The Usual Suspects

Oct 10, 2007 12:21

There's something utterly delightful about the concept of the boys dealing with the law, isn't there? *adores* Even if I kept confusing the male cop's name, thanks to Babylon 5... ;)
Not a picspam.

2x07: The Usual Suspects
In the beginning, before getting the fax from St. Louis, Sheridan says they know of possible IDs for Dean in 3 states.
The boys had a room in City Centre Motor Motel, but none of the doors shown have numbers on them, just a no-smoking sign.
Sheridan lists Dean's crimes as credit card fraud, breaking and entering, grave desecration and murder.
Diana Ballard is accompanied by police officers and SWAT as she takes Sam into custody.
According to Diana Ballard, they can hold the boys for 48 hours without formal charges.
At the time of this episode, Sam is 23 (so must happen between May 2006 and May 2007). He has no job, no home address and he's been effectively off the grid since Jessica's death.
The Winchesters "moved around a lot" when Sam was a kid, and still he got As in school.
Sam had a full ride to Stanford.
"About a year ago, there was a fire in your apartment."
Jessica was the only victim.
Sam claims they've seen the second largest ball of twine in the continental U.S.
AFIS returned Dean's prints with "over a 12 possible hits".
The people in St. Louis supposedly dug up the shapeshifter's corpse. (It's never said what came of that.)
Sam tells Diana that his "dad and Tony Giles were good friends".
The Baltimore Post Intelligencer-article for Anthony Giles' murder:
"Anthony Giles, a prestigious Baltimore Lawyer, was found dead in his office last evening. His throat was disturbingly sliced from ear to ear. The law office's cleaning service called the police as soon as the body was found. (Henry James?), the man on duty, claims he found Anthony in a pool of his own blood, on the office floor. Although this appears to be an alleged violent murder, the killer left no traces. The room was entirely clean, no DNA, no prints. Security cameras failed to capture footage of the assailant. Police have spent the past day searching the downtown office and (???) for evidence of these cameras or any sort of (???) but have found nothing.
Paul (??), Giles co-worker said "Giles was a great guy, hard worker, very determined. He was always staying here late past the rest of us." Other close friends of Giles claim they do not know of any persons who would have any malevolent motives toward the victim. Because he was the last to close up, not one single witness was in the building, including cleaning crew. Most disturbing to the police is not the throat slitting, but the fact that the murderer covered his trail so completely.
Giles was a member of the GFAE law firm and had a bright career ahead of him. He leaves behind a grieving girlfriend but no children. People with any information on this murder or Anthony Giles and the mysterious invisible killer are urged to call the local police department."
(This text is repeated at least three times.)
According to Karen Giles, she was supposed to have dinner with Anthony, but the man was having problems with the computer in his office.
She also tells the boys that Anthony "had a nightmare about some woman" the night before he died.
Sam checked the Baltimore records for the last 50 years at least for 'Dana Shulps'. Sam thinks he'll be able to crack Giles' password in half an hour.
Anthony Giles' office is room 302, and he was an 'attarney at law'.
When Karen Giles grabs the phone in their bedroom, the clock on the table says 10 to 2.
Gileses' address is 421 Clinton Avenue.
Anthony Giles was a friend of Sheridan's.
Diana Ballard and Sheridan pass a newspaper clipping that is about the Baltimore community crime watch.
The public defender's office sent Jeff Krause to be the Winchesters' lawyer.
The report Diana's writing on her computer is about Anthony Giles' murder.
"Supervising Officer's comments:
Police responded to a 911 call from an office building adjacent to that of the crime scene. The call was was received at 12:50 am.
Officers entered the building and entered the victim's office, which was unlocked. Victim was found near desk (see attached measurments)"
The report lets us know that Anthony Giles was 43 years old, he was born 7/2/1963. He was 5'11" and weighed 195 pounds. His hair was brown and his eyes blue.
His SSN was 4570082, his driver's license number was GIL3490-23 and his "residence address" was 45 Upper Alder Heights Parkway, the phone to which is given as 555-0101.
Diana Ballard knows that CTRL+Alt+Del is the solution to most problems with the Windows.
The observation room for Dean is 107.
The observation room for Sam is 101.
The police cars outside the room 101 are numbered 245 and 542.
Sam gets a room at The Aardvark Motel, as Jim Rockford.
Claire Becker's arrest photo has the text Baltimore Metro Police, Maryland, 9206 - 5853.
She was 28 years old, disappeared "about 8 or 9 months ago", and was arrested twice for dealing heroin.
Both Diana and Pete worked in Narcotics before Homicide.
Claire was last seen alive entering 2911 Ashland Street.
According to Diana, the necklace was "custom made over on Carson Street."
"About a year ago, some heroin went missing from lockup."
Dean says Sheridan took him on a 800 mile trip at 2 in the morning.
The prison van's plates are 224U6.
The Impala spent this episode in "the impound yard on Robertson".

Thoughts and Shtuff
  • I love the beginning of this episode, with Diana and Sam. It's the way how, when she says "I know all about you, Sam", Sam sports his worried face. But after she tells that they don't have a clue about John's status, he relaxes.
The cops don't really have that much, at all, about the boys. And he can start really planning their escape.
Not to mention that AFIS-moment. *adores*
  • I would really like to know how that exhuming in St. Louis went... and what they might have discovered. An empty coffin? A mass of slime? Dean's twin?
  • Diana Ballard: "Because I can talk to the DA. Make a deal for you. You can get on with your life. Dean's as good as gone."
Just as an after-thought... There was quite a lot of deal making during S2, wasn't there? :)
And this whole thing? Hurts, precious. But does make me wonder... Is there such a thing as a paranormal DA?
  • Does Diana change her shirt to pink in the middle of the episode? Or is that lavender?
  • Is it just me, or is Sam getting prettier and prettier by the episode? Also, I might have fallen just a little bit in love with The Aardvark Motel...

  • those tiny trifles, episodic, meta, thinky thoughts, supernatural, details, season 2
