Never too late to celebrate.

If some of you will recall, I was more or less accused of angering the presidents two different African countries. Well, the same South African gentleman, who is generally very courteous, has gone behind my back to my boss to get info that I could have provided him. my boss responded with a courteous and appropriate message. He then responded with the following:

Thank you Jill(my boss),

I can use this to show the end customer the process it has to go thru and all the things that happens on the route, this and perhaps the Obama election will help soften the perception and expectancy from the customer ..:-)

Thank you for your feedback.
Regards.

I will say, that this only compares as a fraction of my exuberance from Tuesday night. It's a shame on Prop 8. As my friend, Mike, mentioned when discussing Prop 8 and Prop 2, "you would think gay people would rate higher than chickens." Heartbreaking. my approach to this now is that we have to take it in steps. We can't have everything all at once, and frankly, the much bigger piece of the immediacy pie was won on Tuesday night.

Otherwise, it was an interesting few days. The election results were an impressive blowout. Virginia? North Carolina? Indiana? The big swing states? Almost Montana? A black man winning in those places? The Civil Rights Movement happened WITHIN his lifetime. I honestly would not have guessed we'd get a minority president that had been alive during the Civil Rights Movement. That's really a testament to how well he ran his campaign, his charisma and how far the country's moved. There will still be grumblings, but really nothing with any merit. Nothing worth a reaction.

I think the best part of this week for me was that I had inadvertently scheduled my Foreign Service Officers' Exam for the day IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING election day. I might have been out too late Tuesday night, but I was in a damned good mood for taking the test Wednesday morning. I think mood always plays into my abilities as a test taker.

Fingers crossed...
