Thing the first-

Please to not be linking back to things said in my LJ. I feel reasonably sure that we are not wankers around here, but hey- it's worth reasserting that we are not jerks.

Thing the second-

So for those idly wondering, why yes! All of this went down approximately ten minutes walk from my apartment. Three of the eight people in our department live in Silver Spring, so we were all pretty spooked as the news and rumors trickled in over the afternooon. It's a sad situation and sadder still that it ended in violence. It was very surreal to come home today and see the police cars, fire trucks, special forces vans, roadblocks, and the fleet of news vans parked in the lot I normally cut across on my way to the apartment.

Thing the third-

I like my coworkers a lot. I hope they like me, too. :) They're really a good group of people- they work hard, they're smart and good at what they do and what they DO is stuff like teach kids about Shakespeare, and that is admirable to me. I don't want to disappoint them this year.

Thing the fourth-

Speaking of things theatrical! I have a fair amount of theatre coming up soon. There is Twelfth Night at the Free for All happening tomorrow (DC folks! It's the LAST WEEKEND for free Shakespeare!!), All's Well has its IDR and opening next week and then I'm seeing Chess next weekend. DELICIOUSSSSSS. I love a little ABBA schmaltz with my Shakespeare. ;)

Thing the fifth-

Hmm, that may be all. I am mostly spending all day at work before coming home, making dinner, and puttering around for a few hours before going to bed. I finished rewatching S3 of Doctor Who with the Js and MAN OH MAN that shit is BANANAS. Dobby!Doctor. Jesus!Doctor. Pieta!Doctor/Master. At least there is Martha Jones, who is so fabulously competent and heroic and dedicated and brave and smart and ENTIRELY UNDERAPPRECIATED. At least I can appreciate you, Martha, if neither the writers nor the Doctor does. (ps, your theme music is ACE!) I would be excited for Donna (and I am!) but I am mostly just longing to let the Js reach S5 and see what it is like when the Doctor is not an asshole and people are appreciated and respected and not deified. Eccleston seems a looooooong way away, sometimes.

shakespeare, doctor who, i guess i'm cmk's bitch by proxy, gainful employment, life? i have no life, dc
