i can't go back- there's a sea monster in my notes

Ohhhh, sea monsters. I couldn't help myself- I brought up the sea monster angle in class yesterday in our discussion of Neoclassicism. Between that and not being able to resist referencing Tim Curry as Cardinal Richelieu, class was rather a gem.

In other news, I'm back revising my prospectus. MARK THREE, BABY. At least this time, Prof Big Cheese has actually read the damn thing- he went through it this time and made notes on everything that needed tweaking. It might well have been more helpful to have heard some of that back in September BUT HEY! Who's complaining.

*cough*

In other news, I bought my first pair of Doc Marten's today. VERY EXCITING. I've been talking about it for yonks, and finally decided to throw caution (and my checking account balance!) to the wind. It'll just be a plain old pair of black ones- gotta start small, gotta start somewhere- but I am PSYCHED. \o/ When I commented about this on Ye Olde Twitter, Sister noted that between the boots and the blue hair, grad school has turned me into quite the badass rebel. This amuses me far too much to not IMMEDIATELY accept it as truefax.

I only just watched last week's episode of Glee this morning, and I'll have to miss out on tonight's episode as well. I'll be off singing Verdi while you all thrill to the adventures of show choirs and Jane Lynch. Considering that we get the orchestra in tonight, I think I just might win this one- we get the bass drum in the Cathedral tonight people. Doing this. I think Verdi may actually a fantastic piece for my voice- as much as I love singing Bach, it's not always the best fit for me. Doing Verdi's 'Requiem', however, is kind of perfect- I thrive on big, operatic lines, or dramatic, hushed phrases. This 'Requiem' is all the fun of singing opera without actually having to be an Opera Singer (which my voice just isn't capable of, however much I wanted to run away and join the opera as a teenager) (no, really, I did).

Speaking of the televisual, as I was before the choirgeekery exploded, Sister and I are making plans for next Thursday. I will have 80 or so midterm exams to grade, and I have every intention of curling up with my Sister and watching episodes of Babylon 5 as I grade. She and I were OBSESSED with the show back in high school- we saw every episode and made jokes about Kosh being Santa Claus and I think there might be a filk of 'Send in the Clowns' in an old Theology notebook entitled 'Bring Back Ivanova'. chash is INSPIRING, OKAY? Or enabling. I GET THOSE CONFUSED.

Alright. Time to cook a pre-rehearsal dinner. All too soon, it will be time to pick up darthfox and mosey on down to the National Cathedral.
