I've seen the trailer here, although they've provided no more specific date than summer 2009, and I'm not sure how the 5-episode arc is going to fit with what they're doing with Doctor Who.
apocalypse demons and their killer shadows be damned
Oh, God, yes. Bilis Manger was such a wonderful villain, and he ended up working for such an underwhelming beastie. Although, even if S2 was far, far better, I still have so much love for Captain Jack Harkness as an episode.
Bilis was creepy as all get out- he really was wasted.
Re: 'Captain Jack Harkness', am I right that we're meant to wonder (if not assume) that he died in part because of his men witnessing his dance/kiss with our Jack? I never thought of it originally, but I remember someone pointing it out after it first aired and it has HAUNTED ME. Watching it again, I don't know...

Oh, my God. You might be right. I'll have to watch it again and see if I catch anything, because that would be too awful, but also completely plausible...

I still have a ridiculous soft spot for "Small Worlds," because it's like a list of things I love (Cottingley fairies, otherworldly children), but yeah. I nearly stopped watching after "Cyberwoman," and it was probably only my knowledge of Jack's return to S3 Doctor Who that kept me going. (I did skip "Countrycide," though, because, no thank you.)
URGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH CYBERWOMAN. I know a lot of people trumpet the absurdity, culminating in DINOSAUR V. ROBOT. But. My real problem is how it plays merry havoc with the characterization- I'm sorry, irresistible Jack may be, but I'm pretty sure that Ianto should be well ABLE to resist him considering how that episode went between them.
Admittedly, I cannot bear to rewatch it, so I may well be wrong and I may have missed the scene where they made up and Ianto confessed it was just peer pressure that made him keep Lisa in the basement and he was happy to be rid of her and Jack laughed and made him tea and we ended on them sharing tea and significant glances of affection.
I KNOW. I have never been able to understand how the show went from Ianto yelling that Jack is a monster, to happy sexy fun times. WHAT.
Though I also have difficulties with the way the rest of the Torchwood crew (Ianto and Tosh, anyway) find it impossible to understand that sometimes Jack has to make the tough decisions--like they never got briefed about what the job might entail (which, actually, I can believe, given Jack's leadership strategies). Not that he should just be allowed to kill people indiscriminately, but when Ianto's cyber-girlfriend has just tried to kill EVERY single other member of Torchwood, I can see how Jack would think that maybe it's "shoot first, ask questions later" time.

Because I believe in shameless self-promotion. He doesn't appear until about halfway through, but it does take place during the Wars of the Roses, with copious Histories references.
