The LOVELY AND AMAZING
thieving_gypsy hooked me up with MORE Hawksley Workman yesterday and I'm listening to the album now and it is kind of perfect. :D
I'm having one of those strange afternoons- I was over at C's the last two nights, first for an AMAZING Newsies party where we sang EVERY song and did at least half the dialogue ourselves as well (not to mention our attempts to dance but we won't say a WORD about that, now will we?), then for a Middle School Sleepover with a few other girls where we watched 'Empire Records' (DAMN THE MAN! SAVE THE EMPIRE!) and 'Clueless' and then even watched a big chunk of 'Labyrinth' this morning during pancake making. It was kind of awesome. :D
But so after all that, it was time to come home and start switching mindsets from Giggly Girly Fun Time to HOMG COLIN MELOY SHOW TONIGHT. Because, yes- in an hour and a half from now, I'm going to head over to the 9:30 Club to see a solo show from Colin Meloy of The Decemberists. I am PSYCHED, even though I really have no idea what the show is going to be like... My plan is to show up about an hour before doors and snag a good place at the front, as is my wont. :) I've got the whole pre-show adrenaline going, which I hope will tide me through an hour of standing out in the cold drizzle with a throat that is Decidedly Unhappy with me today.
In other music news, I nearly bought a ticket to a Panic show at the end of April. Do you realise that the only thing stopping me was that it happened to be the same week of every other event that I currently hold a ticket for? I'm seeing Sara Bareilles on Monday, Josh Ritter on Tuesday, and Eddie Izzard on Friday. Panic on Wednesday would be ABSURD and if I start talking about it again PLEASE STOP ME.
Also, someone needs to give this laptop a stern talking to. He is being WILLFUL and not wanting to download ANYTHING and I don't get it. It may be a firewall thing but someone neglected to tell the little bugger that I don't understand those and he shouldn't be giving me issues with them! *harumphs* I can't even get youtube videos to load all the way. CATASTROPHE!
I bet it's
the bug's fault. *scowl* I can't see him in there anymore; not sure if that means he's vacated the premises or just gone further in.
OMG I MISS THE OUTSKIRTS. I was just talking a cappella over in
balefully's neck of the woods and I just... I MISS THEM SO MUCH. I managed to LOSE the video they made for us as seniors where they made a fake video for our recording of 'Dare You to Move' and it was AMAZINGLY hilarious, then each recorded special messages for the three of us and I CRIED and I LOVED IT SO and I LOST IT. D: It's probably buried somewhere in my room, but it's definitely not here in DC. I did find on youtube their video from the fall show, which I will happily present, even though I don't know most of the girls anymore.

JOON JOON JENADA, people. That is OLD SCHOOL, from one of our first arrangements EVER.
I DO know the boys in this old S-Chords video, though. OH HAVERFORD. I harmonize your name. ;)

I MISS THESE BOYS SO MUCH. Oh, Dan. Oh, RICH. He recorded that in the middle of our rehearsal one night and I nearly DIED with love. I think I even blogged about it... ETA: YES!
Here.
Ok. Time to stop reminiscing and start getting ready for Colin Meloy. WOOHOO!
