So in case any of you had any doubts as to how big a dork I was, let me put them to rest now. I'm currently sitting in Magill library, utilizing the college's access to scholarly resources to find fun reviews of Shakespeare performances I may or may not have seen.
*facepalm*
But seriously, check this OUT:
In a review of the recent NYC 'Henry IV' with Kevin Kline as Falstaff:
Obviously I liked Henry IV much less than most other reviewers. Ben Brantley thought it "the most entertaining show of the season"; Jacques Le Sourde found it "a dazzler"; and John Simon (who should get out more) called it "the best American Shakespeare I have ever seen." I am closer to Ralph Feingold, who called the production "stylistically bland"; but even he liked the set. All in all, the critic who came closest to sharing my reservations may have been Billy Crudup.
HEEE
Still hoping to find several people before I leave this afternoon. Oh, there was drama getting here (I've never seen such horrible traffic between Philly and DC in my LIFE), but the play was enjoyable and I got to spend the evening hanging out with Kate C and Lisa S, who I ADORE and never see enough of. I should run, however, and take a break to call Becky and figure out when we'll leave today. There's so much to love in DC, but damn- sometimes I miss this place and especially these people.
