Poll The Great 'Will Emily Look Like a Perv' Poll

I've been curious to see this since I first heard about it, but I just don't know.... HMMMMM. It's such a great idea- school kids from all over the area prepare some Shakespeare and spend the day at the Folger performing for each other. How cool IS that?! There's more info here, if you'd like to make an informed decision before casting your ( Read more... )

When I was at school we did this community Shakespeare project where all these different groups got together to perform Romeo and Juliet. Only we all rehearsed our scenes for a fortnight before seperatly so every scene was in a different style and it was pretty damn dreadful. I feel really sorry for parents that have to spend ten years of their life going to rubbish school plays!

Ohhh that's true. They probably will be crap, won't they? But with the potential to be charming...

And wow. What a bizarre theatrical experience that must have been. ;) Were scenes done separately by each group, or did it come together under one director in the end?

Nope, we just stuck it all together. I mean, we did get to watch other people's bits first but we were thirteen we didn't know how the hell to put it together! It was actually not as bad as the play about Native Americans we did the following year where we put different coloured headscarves on to show which side we were on because we all played about four different parts...

I've also done Richard III in fifteen minutes but that was actually pretty funny. (In a good way.)

Well, we'll see! I'll probably call ahead and get a reading on how bizarre it would be for someone to show up without a school group. I'll put on a funny accent or something so they won't know that it's me... See? I could be a SPY, I'm so good. ;)

Other--she can be someone's older sister.

Btw, do you have/have you heard the Kinks' "A Soap Opera"? C-Dawg gave me a copy a while back and I'm just starting to listen to and enjoy it.

Sadly, no- I think I've only heard 4 Kinks songs in my life at this point, but to my credit, I have a great desire to hear more.
