LOST.
Tonight is the second to last episode, before the end of this. Before the end of a 5 year obsession (i got into it 2nd season) that has totally changed my concept of good television. Hell, I think it's better than almost every movie I have ever seen.
And yet here I sit, contemplating what direction this is going. Not in the usual manner though; the last few seasons basically worked in this manner: new episode, 10 new questions, a million new crazy theories. This season they introduced a radically different storytelling method, that basically squashed the postshow theory roundup. A ton of little tidbits we have craved the answer to, will go unanswered. It's seeming like a good majority of major plot ideas will also go unresolved.
This irked me for most of the season, even though I knew better. Even though Lost has spent the better part of the last 5 years showing me that I should never doubt them. So why start now? That is where I am at now. This show WILL end amazingly. Even if we don't get a lot of answers (I've resigned myself to the fact that this is going to end in a 'Lost In Translation" manner), this will all have been worth it.
As such, what do I think is going to happen? I really don't know. Every theory I had come up with the last few years seems pretty pointless now. I do have a crazy one that I came up with at the end of season 5...that whatever the story culminated in, at the end of the 6th season, it would end up leading into another shows. Not necessarily a spinoff, but maybe something that would lead away from LOST while still connected to the main theme.
I know, it's out there. And a bit of it is wishful thinking, so I don't have to spend the next year or two in mourning....haha. But crazier things have been done on this show, so who knows.
- If Jack does not die, I do not think Sawyer will die.
- Kate has a good chance of dying.
- While I thought otherwise beforehand, I think Alpert might die...think of the symbolic nature of that act, esp if at the hands of Flocke.
- I have a feeling Ben is going to die via his own sacrifice, AND i think it will happen tonight.
- Lapidus is NOT dead.
- Tonights episode title, "What They Died For" I think is a reference NOT to the few that died in the last episodes, but rather everyone that has died so far.
- Juliet HAS to be Jack's wife...she has yet to show up in the sideways world and they made it a point to not disclose who she was in prior episodes (although granted, there have been a LOT of setups that will probably not get fulfilled)
- While Hurley has been on everyones 'will not die' list, and at the top....I think there's a good chance that whatever ends up happening, will require the death of Hugo Reyes.
- Ana and Eko...where you guys been?? Shannon? You're in the damned poster!
There's more...but I need to get ready for work! I'll probably post another one of these after tonight.
Happy lostings!
