Cathryn came over and we watched 8 Mile. It seemed to forego it's purported goals of giving a glimpse into the difficult lives of inner-city kids and (the idealistic, or possibly just eminem's) struggle to remain "real", in favor of overly dramatized situations and loose storywriting. This leads me to think of the movie more as a vehicle for eminem's fame as opposed to a powerful story of triumph over obstacles (which is a genre that has become tiresome in itself).
In any case, it was a fun time, as I had been having a shitty day and sitting around watching a movie with Cathryn was just about all I wanted to do. Today I've got another midterm I'm not prepared for, but it doesn't even matter... I'm very happy.
The karaoke neighbors have come over and they are listening to songs with my roommate. And singing. I'm just disappointed there's no microphone.
Wait, never mind, my wish has been fulfilled. Now the karaoke machine is over and I'm having difficulty studying. Oh well.
