Author: kayevelyn
Fandom: NCIS
Pairing: Gen
Summary: Sundays must be the best day ever.
Notes: For Jezzy! Happy birthday!

Sundays have always been the same for Abby since moving to Virginia many years ago. She goes to 10:30 mass at St. Anne’s, right down the street from her apartment. Her and the sisters then have a light lunch after their duties are done, and finally it is off to bowling. Abby has always made it clear that anyone is welcome to join her with the sisters bowling, and Tim and Tony put in many appearances, much to the delight of the sisters.

Ziva even stopped by once but she just couldn’t get the hand of bowling, and almost left a dent in the floor from the ball.

Abby has no complaints really.

She is packing up her bag after just helping Sister Marie beat the other group of nuns from St. Patrick’s church in Richmond when another bag is placed down next to hers.

“Still up for another?” Abby looks up with a bright smile at the jolly tone of Ducky. He is dressed casually, looking awkward in his probably too tight shoes. That’s why Abby made sure she bought her own pair of bowling shoes.

Abby places her hands on her hips, unable to deny how happy she feels. “Always!”

Ducky, it turns out, has a natural affinity for the sport. Even if he doesn’t understand all the rules, something Abby makes fun of him for since she’ll never understand golf no matter how often Ducky tries to explain it. This only adds to the crowd that they gather because of their antics and wild cheering.

Abby is sure the sisters will be upset to have missed this. She had seen their longing looks when they all filed out. Ducky’s quirky personality seemed to draw people to him.

She is just finishing up tallying their scores - somehow they both broke 100. She turns to tell Ducky this great news when she hears two words that make her Sunday.

“Oh! Jethro!”

Abby’s eyes go wide and she claps as she sees Gibbs sitting down next to Ducky, trying to wrangle his foot into the too small shoe.

Gibbs is grumbling to himself about shoes being listed the wrong size and how everything should be standard, but Abby doesn’t listen as she tackles him back into the plastic chair.

“Gibbs! It’s like Christmas or something! How are you?” She pulls back. “What are you doing here? Is there a case? Did someone die?”

Ducky laughs and pulls Abby back into her seat.

“Abigail, do you really think Jethro would be just putting on his shoes if there was a problem?”

Abby thinks for a moment and then she’s smiling, big and wide all over again. “So you’re here to play!” She points a pen at Gibbs, voice taking on a deeper tone. “Well you better be good because you’re going to be up against two of the best scorers here.”

Gibbs waves his hand, now all smiles, obviously relaxing being around his two friends.

That day, Abby and Ducky found out there was something Gibbs couldn’t do.
