So Saturday was Turtle Day out at Ponce Inlet. The event is held at a little rehabilitation center called the Marine Sciene Center by the Ponce Inlet Lighthouse. They've held Turtle Day every April for the past 4 years and I have been every year. (Duh.) Last year it was big, but this year was even bigger. They fucking let the fucking Girl Scouts do community service there which means thier parents and relatives were all there. I guess it's good, it brings money into the little place to help the turtles and everything, but there were cameras EVERYWHERE. People EVERYWHERE. I got zilch good pictures like I have in the past and I got zilch time to spend at the muesum zilch time to look at the sea turtles, zilch room to sign the good luck card. Most of the booths that were set up were all merchants rather than stuff from like the county advertising CONSERVATION rather than selling useless turtle trinkets. At the beach we didn't have any problem parking, but there were still SO many people and SO many cameras. They even had the nerve to let a photographer step right into the sea turtle's face as it was going back to the water to take its picture. On top of that they let EVERYONE rush and crowd around the turtle where in year's past they strictly enforced you staying behind the lines. I got zilch good pics of the sea turtle release compared to last year. Everyone stood in front of me. Now I'm ranting, but if this shindig is becoming corporate they need to handle the large amount of people. For everyone's safety as well as respect for the animals. I am so pissed that this event turned out the way it did and MSC is getting a strongly worded e-mail. Alright I feel slightly better.
Signing the Good Luck card. NO room cause the fucking girl scouts had to sign it first.
I can't see the turtle there :(
Pennisula Cooter missing some limbs. My camera sucks.
Diamondback Terrapin
Friends. I got better pics last year.
Baby loggerhead sea turtle. I was luckly to squeeze in and grab a shot.
The turtle that was released. She was the largest turtle they have treated.
Bring La Caretta Grande to the shore.
They have a sea bird rehabilitation facility too. I forget this guy's name.
I cried when he flew away. :)
Bringing La Caretta Grande to the shore. With cameras in her face.
Little less cameras but this is at a different angle.
Setting her down...
Then everyone stood RIGHT in front of me.
Cameras in her face, then people started rushing at her even though TECHNICALLY that's against the law and EXTREMELY disrespectful. I gave up on pictures after this point.
Me (Ewww) and Chris on the ride home.
