//~ the malady, it may return. I'm not totes happy about it, obviously, but it's really the stress of The Germanic Diagnosis Gauntlet that really bothers me.

>€€> Watched some really unexpectedly good movies over my little holiday. I'm attentively observing myself realizing two things- that movies really are a secondary fandom for me, I need some kind of further context in order to be independently interested in them, and that I am functionally female demographics wise in my movie choices (or at least gay).
- Thor was 'ok' in a disappointing sort of way. Structurally it reminded me of the first Fantastic Four movie; a good tv show pilot but a shitty film. Character bloat, unfocussed plotting and messy eighties looking fights redeemed to serviceable status by outstanding performances by Thor and Loki, who were both superb. Also, Odin is not a good dad.
- Easy A was fantastic, best film if its type since Mean Girls. Emma Stone will be the next generations Meryl Streep; her emotional range and comedic timing are the messy, glorious heart of this movie.
- No Strings Attached was also an absolutely awesome entry into the genre of slightly indie sensibility driven rom-coms of which I am besotted. Ashton Kutcher is unexpectedly incredibly charming as Mal Reynolds subverting the manic pixie girl archetype as the male lead, and a great supporting cast puts this into the upper echolons of the funny and clever people with nice apartments and their white-people problems genre.
