Ardent Patriotism Shown by Great Men
Pyongyang, September 1 (KCNA) -- Forty-five years have elapsed since leader Kim Jong Il entered Kim Il Sung University in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. On September 1, Juche 49 (1960), his first day in the university, he climbed Ryongnam Hill where he wrote and recited an immortal poem "Korea, I Will Glorify Thee" with an unswerving will to bring the Juche revolutionary cause started by President Kim Il Sung to completion.

He, in the poem, manifested his will to fully grasp the profound revolutionary ideas of the President in Korea and fulfill his responsibility for the Korean revolution. He had already made up his mind to study at Kim Il Sung University. He visited Moscow University of the former USSR in January 1959. At that time, a diplomat of that country recommended him to study at the university after his graduation from the senior middle school. But Kim Jong Il told him he wanted to study at Kim Il Sung University in Korea.

The answer fully reflected his boundless loyalty to the President and ardent love for the fatherland and the people.

Many years ago, Kim Il Sung, too, refused to study in a foreign country. When he was engaged in energetic revolutionary activities after the release from the Jilin prison, Comintern advised him to go to Moscow for study. But he took the choice of finding himself among people, not going to Moscow, saying that he could study Marxism-Leninism through books but could not become a revolutionary for the Korean revolution apart from his people.

Thanks to this ardent patriotism shown by the peerlessly great men, the Korean revolution has advanced successfully along the orbit of Juche even under the ever-changing international context.
