May I ask what happened?

It was made clear to me that the world still needs L, that perhaps L is not as worthless as I presumed.

That is... I should embrace my mistakes and learn from them.

How was it made clear to you?

Affection, Near. It is more important than you think.

So you have decided that L -who has always been a symbol for justice- is necessary because someone has proved to love you. Is that correct?

No, that is far too oversimplified.

I have decided that there is no shame in accepting what I have been while also embracing what I will be. That turning my back on my past only causes more harm than good.

I am L. I have always been L. This was something that I was trying to deny in order to spare myself the pain of existing in failure.

Such pain no longer exists. I see only opportunity.

Are you aware that your past identity and your new one are quite contradictory? It is impossible for them to coexist.

Kira cannot be both Kira and L at the same time - one of them is fake.

Leaping to conclusions without sufficient evidence...

I had thought I taught you better, Near.

I have observed your new identity. It does not condemn torture or even death.

Please correct me if I am wrong.

Clearly, you did not observe L's methods in life.

Interesting. Are you comparing L with a criminal?

Reply

sacrificia_l December 16 2007, 20:41:29 UTC
Indeed, many international and local laws were broken in the process of dispensing justice. I suppose it would be fair to call me a criminal.

The L I knew would have never accepted someone like Shukaku. The L I knew put any kind of personal feeling aside to make sure justice would be made.

So he broke the law sometimes? Please tell me about the negative impact such an act had over innocent citizens. Tell me how much damage L caused to those who were innocent in the eyes of the law and justice.

I am sorry for the pain you experienced, Near.

Believe me, I will never allow you to come to such harm again.
