[There are several scribbles on the page, making it clear that, though Ron wants to write something, he doesn't know what to actually write. Finally, in an unsteady hand, he jots something down.]

When they leave, do they remember anything? I know I didn't, but... she's smarter than me. She's got to remember us, right? And she'll figure out a way to ( Read more... )

[Okay, Malfoy, don't be snarky. Now is not the time to be snarky no matter how much you hate Weasley. Hermione's departure wasn't very easy on anyone.]

It depends, probably. With her, it wouldn't surprise me.

[The only reason he responds is because he doesn't immediately recognize the handwriting, and when he does realize who he's replying to, it's too late to really stop.]

I stopped being surprised by the kind of stuff she could pull off a long time ago.

In a way, it's probably best that she was the one who left before the rest of us. [You know. Even if they did lose Luna before that, too.]

[Not to mention Sirius and Remus and Tonks, and oh hey, Ron had even left once, even if he doesn't remember it.] How's that?

[And Dumbledore, Narcissa, and Theo, as well. And Cho and Riddle, but the latter was a good thing.] She has a better chance of getting back to us sooner than if it had been someone else. Think about how long it took you to return after you left.

... you make it sound like it's better to be stuck here.

Then clearly you're not listening to what I'm saying. But what else is new? Gryffindors never listen.

Not much to listen to, since nobody's talking. But I mean that you said she'd come back sooner. I don't want her to come back at all.

Reading then, if you're going to be an arse about it. Think about it; if she came back, at least we'd have a better chance of getting out ourselves. Understand?

Should've known you couldn't go two minutes without being a right git.

[On second thought, Hermione wouldn't want him writing that, so begrudgingly crosses it out... even if it's still mostly legibile.]

Or the Malnosso figured out a way to plug up her way out and she ends up just as stuck here as the lot of us.

I think my record around you is about one minute and forty-five seconds, actually.

You're giving them a bit too much credit, don't you think?

Please don't tell me you actually keep count.

Maybe. It's better than gushing false hope, wouldn't you say?

Of course not. That's require effort I don't feel like dispelling on you.

Of course it's better, but when have you ever known me to have false hope? Or gush in general?

Effort that you're too lazy to make, you mean. [Pot, meet kettle.]

I'd rather not think about it, thanks. Or about you at all, actually.

I've other matters to take care of that are far more important than you. Keep that in mind.

Why not? Granger seemed to enjoy thinking about me. [Yes. He went there.]

[Right. Like harassing me through a enchanted book. I'll keep that in mind.]

[... bastard.] She also enjoys thinking about the plight of house-elves. Your point?
