Shortening them would be pointless. I'd risk forgetting about things. [Yeah right. Her brain is like an encyclopedia.] Besides, the longer we're here, the more we learn about the place and what's the point of not keeping track of it all?

Also, he's giving her a funny look when she claims that she might forget things.] Well, I thought the whole point of knowing this stuff in the first place was so we could get out of here faster and not just sit around, racking up more stuff that's gotta be learned.

That look is returned with a pointed one of her own.] Honestly. If you don't learn about the place you're in, you won't have a chance of going back home. It's so fascinating, anyway. I don't see why anyone wouldn't learn as much as possible about this place, especially if it might lead to why we're here in the first place.

[action] Ron would not object to some of the mun's feelings about school rub off on the muse. XD

[Hermione, you're weird. That's what the look that Ron's giving you right now is saying.] Fascinating? Are you nuts? I don't much care why we're here; the world could keep the 'why' portion of it so long as we manage to get the hell out.

And that's why we learn about it. Because one day the knowledge we gain might be the only thing that gets us out. Our answer might be something we can only use or discover if we've taken the time to understand our surroundings. [And how many times has her knowledge saved your life, Ron?]

That's not a 'why,' though. It's a 'how.' Figuring out how we got here and how to get back is one thing; sitting around and trying to suss out why we've been forced here doesn't have much practical use. [Hermione's got all that extra knowledge that we don't really need, though. At least, so far as Ron's concerned.]

[Ron really wants to ask, "What?!" but instead decides to grit his teeth and chalk it up to her being a woman... or something. He'll let her go for now, since he'd rather not trade scathing remarks when he's got loads of notes to read.]
