Post Examination: Priest of Rings
In this short thread, the god of the misleading sentence talks to a very literal mortal. Of course things were going to get clouded.
With Jirarudan (surrender_lugia):
Small thing to say.
Hermes asks Jirarudan what it is that reflections give. To his answer, he replies, "Correct, for the most part. They give insight. A new view. A duplication of the world."
Hermes is talking about two kinds of reflections - mental and physical. 'A new view' is referring to a mental reflection. As he gave later, "Look into a pond and it shows the world from the opposite view of one's downcast eyes." That is the ‘new view’ - it shows what’s behind you, what you can’t see but is certainly there, what you may realize when thinking about something, a sudden striking understanding, making slow connections through time, or hearing about something in a different way.
'A duplication of the world' is referring to a physical reflection. Quite plain there. Or, for another wording, the water itself is physical, the reflection mental.
Then that might just mess you up. You may reply out of character only.
