A quiet life ~

Aug 25, 2006 06:53

Life here has been very quiet the past couple of weeks. The first chemo of this cycle knocked me on my butt with fatigue and I have spent many hours just sitting around, watching TV and reading. I've become a rabid fan of Project Runway and Design Star. Don't call here on Wednesday night at 10 or Sunday at 9!!!

Boychild is doing well. He seems to be enjoying 5th grade and once again he is thrilled to be a member of the safety patrol. We work on his homework together and our nightly games of Uno now include his buddy. I think we might upgrade to "Uno Attack" this holiday season.

I won't be at the event next weekend since I will get my second chemo on Thursday. Dear
georgie_bird is the event steward and I am sure it will be a great time. She will be celebrating her birthday on Friday - what some folks will do to insure that they have a big party to celebrate their special day!!! :::laughing::: Although I am sad that I won't be there, it would be terribly foolish of me to attempt to go. Between the heat and chemo side effects, I know that I wouldn't have any fun. As my treatment progresses I will attend whatever events fall on my "good" weekend - the weekend before my treatment.

Life here will get extremely interesting next Thursday when Artgeek and WGSiL arrive along with their two cats, Bishop and Ripley. To be perfectly honest, I am pleased that they have decided to move here to help me. But I am also sad too. It pains me that they had to make this decision. I am wrestling with acceptance of this issue and it is a very difficult battle.

The Guest House

This being human is a guest house.
Every day is a new arrival.

A joy, a depression, a meanness,
some momentary awareness comes as an unexpected visitor.

Welcome and entertain them all!
Even if they're a crowd of sorrows,
who violently sweep your house
empty of its furniture,
still, treat each guest honorably.
He or she may be clearing you out
for some new delight.

The dark thought, the shame, the malice,
meet them at the door, laughing,
and invite them it.

Be grateful for whoever comes
because each has been sent
as a guide from beyond.
