i think we are all two different people (or perhaps more than two, in some cases) ... and i can't decide if we should (A) embrace all our different personas, conflicting as they may be, or (B) settle on the one that we are most comfotable with, though it may be less exciting, or (C) try to find a balance that satisfies some desires of each ( Read more... )

i think 'A' would work out well for an independent, secure person. unfortunately not everyone is like that. people look for similarities in order to connect with each other, as in 'B' where two people, depending on the type of relationship, would communicate thru their similar experiences and compare their reactions. some people would embrace the others differences, and use it to learn a different point of view, but then others would see their different point of view as wrong, or even scary. my motto? never settle.

As far as my experiences go, you just labeled the stages of growing up and becoming more mature. I think that when we are young, we are A which causes so many problems that we eventually slip into B which at first seems like the most rational/comfortable choice, but over time becomes quite unbearable. In trying to stick with the one side of ourselves that we originally thought would be the best, we deny so many other normal urges and so we wind up being C, which really makes the most sense anyway. Not matter how much we like to think otherwise, people are complex and we are all multifaceted and until we can fully admit that to ourselves and find the balance that can exist, we remain miserable.

Well, that's my two cents at least.

I 100% agree. We need to start up our tuesday nights again. Or hell, we could watch it live on mondays now that your work schedule has changed. I'll be gone to Seattle from Fri-Mon, but I'll call ya when I get back
