Hi there! It has been a while since I've used this journal for...well, anything, really. I don't really feel comfortable using it just as a personal journal. There has to be some sort of purpose for it, certainly a better one than just telling what goes on in my day (which isn't very interesting to begin with, to be honest).
But since I like to draw, maybe an art blog of some sort would be a good use for this thing. I do have a DeviantArt account, but the layout makes it feel like it should be reserved for finished pieces, something of which I do not have a lot of. A journal, though, has a more open feel to it, where it would be OK to post things like works in progress, practice sketches, color tests, etc.
Plus, I have a few friends who also love to draw. I love seeing their work, even if it is just a little doodle or simple sketch (those can actually be more fun to look at!) However, on most art sites, there is the pressure to post only your most polished, finished pieces, which is all well and good, but it's a shame that, as a result, we don't see more fun, relaxed, experimental drawings. Perhaps starting a place that would allow for that kind of forgiving environment would be encouraging to those who might feel a bit self-conscious of their artwork.
So, I'm taking that first step. I will post ugly practice drawings that, originally, were never meant to be seen by the eyes of other humans, plus some coloring experiments I have done recently. Gesture drawings, facial expression practice, silly doodles, finished pieces, etc. everything I can think of that was created with a pencil, pen, or marker, I will try my best to post on here.
Right now, I have to go get ready for work, but when I return, we shall have the first post, which will be...........
...hands!
Until then,
