As the days grind by...

Well the new year has begun and there is a few things I really want out of this year and they are as follows:
  • A permanent job with benefits
  • A decent savings in my bank account
  • Pay off my car
  • Get back in shape
  • Possibly look into more schooling for a specialized career
Those are a few main things I would really like. The job I have now is not all bad, its just not a sure thing. I am working month to month on a contract through a temp agency. This kills me for a couple reason, main one is that I have no job security. My own supervisor told us, no kidding, "I would not blame you all if you wanted to look for something permanent elsewhere." That really instills a lot of confidence in the position I have. It has potential to become more but there is no certainty as to if that is an option. So I am putting my information out there to look for another job just in case something comes along that is enticing. Id hate to let something pass by while waiting for this to possibly become permanent.

Beyond that I have no medical, dental or vision insurance, nor have I for the past 2 and a half years. I need to see a doctor for my knee and asthma soon. I would also like to go to the eye doctor and make sure my glasses are still the correct prescription.

I am also hoping beyond anything else that Lauren gets the job at the Red Cross or somewhere else she wants. She has been waiting for the Red Cross now for 4 months and my mom works there and is putting in good words for her. So I think she has a great chance to get it. We shall see. Once she gets up and working, with the dual income we are planning on getting Princeton memberships and starting to work out a couple times a week. That will be nice as I need to get back into shape a bit.

We had a great Christmas and New Years together once again. It was the 2nd together with many more to come. I was not actually looking forward to Christmas for some reason, I think it was due to the lack of money and thus the lack of gifts for all. But once to my parents house it was a different story, I was just happy to be with family for Christmas.

Lauren and I will be heading to Iowa this weekend to see her family and do a gift exchange. Once again I am looking forward to seeing the family but we are still kinda broke and as such can't afford gifts for them. I mean I would love to do something for everyone but I don't have enough money and I know that is taking its toll on Lauren as she wants to get everyone gifts. Maybe later once we are both working full time we can get them all gift certificates or something. We shall see.

A plus is that, making regular car payments, my car will be paid off in September. YAY!! I'm looking forward to having that bill out from over my head. It will be nice. Also tax season is upon us. I'm going to make sure I file as soon as i have all my W-2's to get my refund back as soon as possible. That will go into savings and start my goal of saving moneys in my bank. If I get enough back I would love to get a new digital camera as mine is starting to go the way of the old. My Nikon has served me well but it is 6 years old, time to upgrade. We shall see when the time comes. For the time being it is working ok, just eats batteries like it there is no tomorrow.

Well all, thanks for reading my rant. I will post more at another time.
