Oh crap. The other day at work this guy traded in a PSP with a few games for cash and an hour later this kid comes in crying saying someone stole all the crap that guy traded in (my day off no less). So I go in to investigate because immediately I think it's some kind of scam. Turns out the kid GAVE his stuff to the older dude to trade in for cash, and the older guy is saying he DID give the younger kid his cash, and, the younger kid is saying he DIDN'T get the cash. While I'm on the phone with the sheriff's department the older guy's dad asks me what the policy is for giving out cash for games.
Well, you have to be eighteen and we need some information from their drivers licens-
-My son is sixteen
and he has a smirk on his face
How old is your son?
-Sixteen. So you might want to hang up that phone if your calling the cops
WELL FUCK.
The last thing the sheriffs office asked over the phone was What's your name again?

I can't call the cops now because if THEY find out we gave cash to a minor for a trade in, we get in trouble. Big trouble.
So I called the boss, told him I had to make this situation disapear immediately.
So I gave the kid his psp and games back and told them to all go home. I told John if a sheriff came into the store later that night, to say everything is okay and it was just a misunderstanding. And sure enough, about 20 minutes after I left, a sheriff came into the store to find out what the phone call was all about (although I called on my cellphone, I recapitulate the situation, including the name of the store)
But everything's okay. I think John and I are going downtown sometime this week to get licenses so we can legally give cash out for games. Also, policy is gonna get a bit stricter down at ye ole gameware
