So I had evidently started write an entry waaayyy back when in May... yea so I didn't get that job at lincoln labs...evidently they have staffing capacity set by the government... and since they were nearing it... they wanted "more senior" people. but its ok because the people I work with now are reaaalllyy nice:)... and nice atmosphere... and well yea... figured I'd post this before my next post I had in mind:)... since it was already recovered and ready to go:) and meant to be posted 3 months ago:)

update update update! or part/pure rant... we'll see how it turns out:)

So all graduated... back at home... and already missing school... but looking forward to next week- I hear rumors of more people being in the area then :)

So right now I have a definite offer from Traveler's Insurance in Hartford CT, with a start date of June 18. Also right now, I have an possible offer from MIT Lincoln Labs... POSSIBLE being the key word... and so begins my rant.

So I interview with the Labs the day after my Traveler's interview. I loved it... the people were generally older, but I felt like I was in an academic department at RPI; everyone was nerdy, welcoming and overall had good senses of humor... needless to say, I felt at home. On the way out of the interview, the interviewer asks when I can start, and so light began to shine on my hopes of getting in there.

Under a week later, they ask for academic references in addition to the professional ones I provided, I shell out a name or two, references get checked and all seems honky dorey.

Early the following week I recieve a call from HR people at the labs, and they tell me "They can't make any promises at the given time." I tell them I have another offer.. would like to know soon, they repeat " can't make any promises at this time... " blah ... so my heart sinks a few notches.. but within 5 minutes I get an email from the guy I interviewed with saying He's prepared to make me an offer and believed that HR called to start process earlier that morning....
