Yesterday morning, we went to a tag sale at in Amherst, held by our friends James and Ashley. They were recently married and were getting rid of some extra stuff. They also have a dog, Loki, so we brought along Sprout. James and Ashley have a fenced-in yard behind their house, so we let Sprout out to run around a little. He and Loki ran around for a little bit, but then seemed bored of it. Sprout kept whining, feeling like all the excitement must surely be happening where the humans were, and not in the back yard.
I talked with James for a bit. James had gone drinking the night before with another friend of ours, Michael, who was moving to Chicago. Michael was married about a year ago and his marriage has since failed, so he is going to try to start a new life in a different place. So James, understandably, seemed a little slow. He told me he was looking for work. What kind of work? I asked him. Editing jobs, he said. Near or far? New York, San Francisco, Texas. Far, in other words.
We had brought a few things to sell at the tag sale, but we only ended up selling one cutting board. A lady had picked it up before I had gotten around to finding a price tag for it. How much do you want for this? Ashley called out to me. I don't know, a dollar, I said.
We left after a little lunch of tofu pups and veggie burgers. Sorry, I guess we're meatless today, James told me. But it wasn't too bad. I had a couple of tofu pups. They could have been a little juicier, but otherwise, they tasted kind of like hot dogs.
Today, it's cloudy so far. L. is doing some school work. I think we're going to take the dog for a nice walk and maybe invite up our new downstairs neighbors for some tea this afternoon. The Franklin County Fair is this weekend, but I don't really feel like going. I don't know why, exactly. I guess I just feel a little sluggish.
