Zoo Poetry

L., A. and I went to NYC for a couple of days this week to visit brother pkhentz and his fiancee, S. pkhentz already touched on the Poets' Corner at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine, which we visited on Friday. Interestingly enough, our other big trip of the visit, which was to the Central Park Zoo, also had a poetry component. I found this article that talks about the poetry at the zoo that we saw. There were some great poems and quotes from poems alongside the animals. Randall Jarrell's "Bats" was there, along with others. They were on benches and inscribed over windows and on little plaques: everywhere. I can't recall them all now. But it was refreshing to walk through the zoo and come upon all this poetry displayed so prominently.
