Boar's Head Week

Jan 07, 2009 12:04

It's sleeting in Springfield on Wednesday of Boar's Head week. L. had her musician's rehearsal last night. The festival has sort of snuck up on me this year, as I missed a number of the rehearsals while I was in Houston. I'm scheduled to be a beefeater again. Our red-coated company has a good deal of turnover from last year, with only three of the six veterans returning (I think). Tomorrow is the full dress rehearsal and then the shows are Friday, Saturday and Sunday. We'll be leaning on Grandma for childcare, as both L. and I are performing. But who knows, I may be balancing little A. on my lap as we play pitch down in Vincent Hall, waiting for our cue this year.

I'm looking forward to this year's festival, for the feeling of awe that it always seems to bring to me. A number of people in the church have talked about Boar's Head as an all-church retreat and that makes sense to me. You spend this intense weekend with these people and a shared sense of purpose.
