All up and down the aisles of Trinity church, the enormous chorus guru was leading children in a line, singing a Yiddish folk song. It was
Nick Page and the
Children's Chorus of Springfield, yesterday afternoon, in a community sing event. It was a lot of fun. Page led the group in a variety of sing-a-longs. He was a very big man, and he had an infectious enthusiasm for singing. He taught verses of songs in Sign Language, in Spanish, in French, in Hebrew and other languages. A. loved it.
After it was done, we went to the Salvation Army, where L. bought some sweaters. I bought a book: The Prince of Providence, the story of former Providence Mayor Buddy Cianci. I've already started reading it, even though I started the Bill Bryson book the other day. It was only a dollar, I rationalized.
Today, we were back at the church for Sunday service. L. played the flute with the choir. A. and I sat in on the pre-service rehearsal, where A. was a hit with all the choir members, and waved her arms along with the singing.
