Boar's Head Tonight

Jan 11, 2008 12:41

The Boar's Head Festival at Trinity United Methodist Church in Springfield opens tonight. That's music director (and Prioress) Becky Isaacson in the photo above. I've gotten a lot of positive feedback from the members about the article I wrote for Preview Massachusetts magazine.

As I wrote last year about the festival:But the point of the Boar's Head Festival is that birth of the new year, that finding of the Christ child, that arrival of the Magi, that dawning of a new era. Epiphany. Every year, amidst the pageantry, the five performances, the noisy cast dinners in the gym, the waiting downstairs for the cue, there is that moment when you feel the magic. When you see the candle process, the choir sing, the Te Deum window light up, when you sense that communal longing for something greater and you realize that you're part of it. You're there.
You can find more of my ruminations about Boar's Head here.
